It’s a chemical reaction I guess? Or maybe it hits the water and unlike a solid and it being a liquid it goes into the water causing it to spread or something like that.
I think because there is no such quantum shell as -1/2.
Element with the same number of shells is element with the same period in periodic table,while element with the same numbers of valence electron is element in the same group .it also have similar chemical properties but different physical properties
