C. ACL tear is one of the injury  which include knee instability with pain & swelling.

  • ACL is the most important tissue which is connected rom thigh bone to shin bone at the knee. It occurs during sports such as basketball,football & tennis.

<u>CAUSE:</u>

  • ACL injuries happen during fitness activities which put stress on knee i.e sudden slowing down as well as changing of directions. When person rotates with the foot firmly planted.Receiving  a direct collision such as a football tackle.

<u>DIAGNOSIS :</u>

  • When performed properly, a complete knee examination  > than 80% sensitive for an ACL injury. Lachman test is the most accurate test  for the detection of ACL tear.MRI as well as Ultrasound also used  to detect the injury in ligament as well as tendon.

<u>TREATMENT</u> :

  • Follow R.I.C.E care model at home.
  • Physical therapy is also needed. The therapist will teach how to perform exercises under the supervision at home. Wearing of a brace for knee stabilization & crutches were also prescribed to avoid putting weight bearing on knees.
  • Main goal of physical therapy is to decrease the pain & swelling,muscle strengthening & restoration of full range of motion.
  • Surgery (i.e.ACL reconstruction)
