Let u = x^(1/3)

Then,

u^2 - 6u - 27 = 0

(u-9)(u+3)=0
u = 9, u = -3

Substitute back

X^(1/3) = 9
(X^(1/3))^3 = 9^3
X = 729

And
X^(1/3) = -3
(X^(1/3))^3 = -3^3
X = -27

what is the equation of a line in slope-intercept form for a line with slope = 1/4 and y-intercept at (0,-1)
Nadya [2.5K]

Answer:

y = (1/4)x - 1

Step-by-step explanation:

Start with the general slope-intercept form: y = mx + b. Subst. -1 for b and (1/4) for m. Then,

y = (1/4)x - 1

Find a whole number between 9 4/9 and the square root of 144
postnew [5]
First, we'll want to write out the equation
9 \frac{4}{9} < n < \sqrt{144}

then reduce what we can
9 \frac{4}{9} < n < 12

so this means n can equal any whole number between 9 4/9 & 12, which gives us the options of {10,11}

n = 10 \: or \: 11

A scientist measures the distance, in feet, between animals and the surface of a pond.
aleksandr82 [10.1K]

Considering the opposite of the rational number -1/2, the location of the snail is represented by the number 1/2.

What is the missing information?

This problem is incomplete, but researching it on a search engine, we have that:

 • The fish is located at -1/2 feet.
 • The snail is located at the opposite location of the fish.

What is the opposite of a rational number?

The opposite of a rational number a is given by -a, that is, it is the number with the opposite signal.

Hence, the opposite of -1/2 is 1/2, and the location of the snail is represented by the number 1/2.

Need help with this math problem
makvit [3.9K]

Answer:

P(x) = x^4 -16x^3 +76x^2 -72x -100

Step-by-step explanation:

The two roots 1-√3 and 1+√3 give rise to the quadratic factor ...

... (x -(1-√3))(x -(1+√3)) = (x-1)^2 -(√3)^2 = x^2 -2x -2

The complex root 7-i has a conjugate that is also a root. These two roots give rise to the quadratic factor ...

... (x -(7 -i))(x -(7 +i)) = (x-7)^2 -(i)^2 = x^2 -14x +50

The product of these two quadratic factors is ...

... P(x) = (x^2 -2x -2)(x^2 -14x +50) = x^4 +x^3(-14 -2) +x^2(50 +28 -2) +x(-100+28) -100

... P(x) = x^4 -16x^3 +76x^2 -72x -100
