The recursive rule for a sequence and one of the specific terms is given. FInd the position of the given term
Rina8888 [55]

Answer:

f(119) is 571

Step-by-step explanation:

first you substitute the n's for 119, because n is the nth term, or which position term you are looking for.

then you will get f(119) = f(119-1) +4

simplify to f(119) = f(118) +4

(I'm not too familiar with the recursive formula but I can assure you that I have the right answer, it just may be confusing when reading my explanation.)

understand that the first number in this sequence is 99. meaning from 99 onward, you will need 118 more terms to reach the 119th term. since the gap between each term ( called the common difference or "d" in this case is +4, we can multiply 118+4.

this will get you to 472. but that's not it, you have to add the first term, which is 99 back on.

then it will get you the answer of 571.

I can prove this by using the explicit formula,

f(119) = f(1) + d (n-1)

f(119) = 99 + 4 (119-1)

f(119) = 99 + 4 (118)

f(119) = 99 + 472

f(119) = 571

Given the sequence 10, 20, 40, 80,.... find 25th term
Contact [7]
This sequence is a geometric sequence so u want to find out the formula

The formula for a geometric sequence is: ar to the power of n-1

A= first term and r= the factor between the terms (called the common ratio)

Now we juss input it in the formula

10 x 2 to the power of n-1

Now we want to work out the 25th term so n=25 we do 25-1=24

So it’s 10*2 to the power of 24

Answer: 167772160

Hope this helped

the length of the base of an isosceles triangle is x. The length of a leg is 4x-5. The terminator of the triangle is 35. find x.
vodomira [7]

Answer:

x= 5

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given;

  • Base of the triangle as x
  • Length of the leg is 4x-5
  • An isosceles triangle has two equal legs and a base.
  • The perimeter of the triangle is 35 (spelling mistake in the question)

To get the perimeter of a triangle we add the lengths of all sides of the triangle.

Therefore;

x + 4x-5 + 4x-5  = 35

9x - 10 = 35

9x = 45

  x = 5

Thus, the value of x is 5
