Answer:

x < -3\frac{3}{4}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

-6x+22\frac{1}{4}+2x > 9\frac{3}{4} +16\frac{1}{2}

Required

Solve for x

-6x+22\frac{1}{4}+2x > 9\frac{3}{4} +16\frac{1}{2}

Collect Like Terms

-6x+2x > 9\frac{3}{4} +16\frac{1}{2}-22\frac{1}{4}

-4x > 9\frac{3}{4} +16\frac{1}{2}-22\frac{1}{4}

Convert all fractions to improper fractions

-4x > \frac{39}{4} +\frac{33}{2}-\frac{45}{4}

Take LCM

-4x > \frac{39+66- 45}{4}

-4x > \frac{60}{4}

-4x > 15

Divide through by -4; When an inequality is divided by a negative number, the inequality changes.

\frac{-4x}{-4} < \frac{15}{-4}

x < \frac{15}{-4}

x < -\frac{15}{4}

Convert to improper fraction

x < -3\frac{3}{4}

The manager of a newsagency conducted a survey to find out the most popular newspaper. He found that the sales ratio of the ‘Dai
den301095 [7]

Answer:

  (a) 100 Wacky News

  (b) 40 Daily News

Step-by-step explanation:

Multiplying the first ratio numbers by 4, we get ...

  daily : wacky = 8 : 20

and multiplying the second ratio numbers by 5, we get ...

  wacky : truthful = 20 : 5

Then we can combine these ratios to ...

  daily : wacky : truthful = 8 : 20 : 5

Multiplying this set of ratio numbers by 5 again, we get ...

  daily : wacky : truthful = 40 : 100 : 25

This makes the Truthful News ratio value match the actual number in part (a).

__

(a) If 25 Truthful News papers were sold on Friday, then 100 Wacky News papers were sold.

__

(b) The same day, 40 Daily News papers were sold.

Kaylis [27]

Answer:

d.

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello!

The objective of this test is to know if aerobic exercise modifies hippocampus activity. A random sample of 120 elderly men and women was taken and divided into two groups.

Group 1: Walked around a track three times a week.

Group 2: Did a variety of less aerobic exercises, including yoga and resistance training with bands.

After a year their brains were scanned showing that group 1 had an increase of 2% in their hippocampus and group 2 showed a decrease of 1.4%

a. True, this type of observational study can be the prelude to a more formal statistical study.

b. True, the explanatory variable is "type of exercise", it's the variable that the investigator suspects influence the hippocampus volume.

c. True, the objective of this experiment is to test if there is any modification on hippocampus volume, that's why the volume of the hippocampus was measured, before and after a year of exercise.

d. False, this is an observational study, you cannot establish a causal relationship between the two variables. Just inform you that there seems to be an association. To be able to generalize the results to all elderly population you need a more formal statistical experiment to support your conclusions.

I hope it helps!
