A soccer player kicks a ball, giving it an initial velocity of 9.0 m/s in the positive x- direction. Because of the wet grass an

d dirt, the ball slows uniformly to 3.00 m/s when it has travelled 30.0 m. Determine the ball’s acceleration? Hint: Acceleration is a vector and direction must be specified (SLO 1)

Answer:

a= - 1.2 m/s²

Direction of a : in the negative x- direction

Explanation:

Because the ball moves with uniformly accelerated movement we apply the following formula:

vf²=v₀²+2*a*d Formula (1)

Where:

d:displacement in meters (m)

v₀: initial velocity in m/s

vf: final velocity in m/s

a: acceleration in m/s²

Known data

v₀ = 9.0 m/s

vf= 3.00 m/s

d = 30.0 m.

Problem development

We replace data in the formula (1) to calculate acceleration :

vf²=v₀²+2*a*d

(3)²= (9)² + (2* 30)*a

9=81+(60)*a

9-81=(60)*a

-72=  (60)*a

a= -72/60

a= - 1.2 m/s²

Direction of a : in the negative x- direction

Hi there!

I. Only momentum is conserved.

An inelastic collision means that there is a LOSS in the KINETIC ENERGY of the system.

However, momentum is ALWAYS conserved for every type of collision unless there is an external force acting on the system.

A binary star system consists of two stars of masses m1 and m2. The stars, which gravitationally attract each other, revolve aro
mote1985 [20]

Answer: a_{2}=\frac{m_{1}}{m_{2}} a_{1}

Explanation:

The rest of the question is below:

Find a2, the magnitude of the centripetal acceleration of the star with mass m2.

Assuming both stars are describing a uniform circular motion, their acceleration vector is directed towards the center of mass of the system (that's why it's called centripetal acceleration).

Now, according to Newton's 2nd law, the force F is directly proportional and in the same direction as the acceleration.

For m_{1}:

F_{1}=m_{1}a_{1}

For m_{2}:

F_{2}=m_{2}a_{2}

If the centripetal force is the same for both stars:

F_{1}=F_{2}

m_{1}a_{1}=m_{2}a_{2}

Isolating a_{2}:

a_{2}=\frac{m_{1}}{m_{2}} a_{1}

A circuit contains two resistors in series. The voltage drop across the first is 10 V. The voltage drop across the second is als
iragen [17]

The voltage provided by the power supply = 20 V

<h3>Resistors in series </h3>

The Voltage across resistors in series in a circuit is equal to the sum of the voltage drops across each resistor.

Therefore for two resistors in series the total voltage provided by the power supply is equivalent to the summation of the voltage drops acroos each resistor ( i.e 10 V + 10 V = 20 V )

Hence we can conclude that the voltage provided by the power supply is 20 V

What type of force cause an object to accelerate??
Olin [163]
ANY force causes an object to accelerate, just as long as there are not
some other forces on the object that cancel out the first one.

Are you looking for the answer ... an "UNBALANCED" force ?
That's a very poor way to describe it, because there's no such thing
as a balanced or unbalanced force.  The thing that's balanced or
unbalanced is a GROUP of forces, not a single force.
