Answer:

q = 3.703*10^-9

dipole moment = 3.703*10^-11

E @ (10,0) = 331.977 N/C

Explanation:

Given:

Coordinates

+ q = (0,-0.5) cm

- q = (0,0.5) cm

E = 360 N/C @ (0,10)

Solution:

Electric Field Strength @ (0,10) = \frac{k*q}{R^2}\\

Note: +q (away from charge) and -q (towards the charge)

E = k*q*(\frac{1}{R^2_{1}}  - \frac{1}{R^2_{2}  })\\ 360 = (9*10^9)*q*(\frac{1}{0.095^2}  - \frac{1}{0.105^2 })\\\\q =1.99 *10^-9

Dipole moment = q.(space between two charges)

= (3.703*10^-9 * 0.01)

= 3.703*10^-11

Electric Field Strength @ (10,0)

E = 2*k*q*(\frac{1}{R^2})*cos(Q)\\ \\Q = arctan(\frac{10}{0.5}) = 87.138 degrees\\R = \sqrt{10^2 + 0.5^2} = 10.01249 cm\\E = 2* (9*10^9)*(3.703*10^-9)*\frac{cos (87.138)}{0.1001249^2}\\E = 331.977 N/C

Answer:

a. dipole moment = 2.003 × 10⁻¹³ Cm, charge = 2.003 × 10⁻¹¹ C b. 8.96 N/C

Explanation:

a. The electric field due to a dipole is given by

E = p/2πεy³ where p = dipole moment and y = distance of dipole to point of electric field = 10 cm = 0.10 m. E = electric field strength at (0,10) = 360 N/C

So, E = p/2πεy³

p = 2πεy³E = 2π × 8.854 × 10⁻¹² × (0.10 m)³ × 360 N/C = 2.003 × 10⁻¹³ Cm

Also, p = qd where q = charge and d = distance of charges apart = 1.0 cm = 0.01 m

q = p/d = 2.003 × 10⁻¹³ Cm/0.01 m = 2.003 × 10⁻¹¹ C

b. The electric field at point (10,0)

E = qx/[πε√(d² + 4x²)]³ which is the electric field at an axis perpendicular to the dipole where x = 10 cm = 0.10 m

E = 2.003 × 10⁻¹¹ C × 0.10/π × 8.854 × 10⁻¹²√(0.01² + 4×(0.1)²)³  = 8.96 N/C.

Answer:

W=-21,870,000\ J

Explanation:

<u>Work and Kinetic Energy </u>

The work an object does due to its motion is equal to the change of its kinetic energy. Being ko and k1 the initial and final kinetic energy respectively and m the mass of the object, then

W=\Delta k=k_1-k_0

Since

\displaystyle k=\frac{mv^2}{2}

We have

\displaystyle W=\frac{mv_1^2}{2}-\frac{mv_0^2}{2}

The truck has a mass of 60,000 kg and is moving at 27 m/s. The runaway truck ramp must stop the truck, so the final speed is 0. Thus

\displaystyle W=\frac{(60,000)0^2}{2}-\frac{(60,000)(27)^2}{2}

W=0-21870000\ J

\boxed{W=-21,870,000\ J}

Determine the magnitude of the resultant force acting on a 1.5 −kg particle at the instant t=2 s, if the particle is moving alon
Phoenix [80]

Answer:

F = 63N

Explanation:

M= 1.5kg , t= 2s, r = (2t + 10)m and

Θ = (1.5t² - 6t).

magnitude of the resultant force acting on 1.5kg = ?

Force acting on the mass =

∑Fr =MAr

Fr = m(∇r² - rθ²) ..........equation (i)

∑Fθ = MAθ = M(d²θ/dr + 2dθ/dr) ......... equation (ii)

The horizontal path is defined as

r = (2t + 10)

dr/dt = 2, d²r/dt² = 0

Angle Θ is defined by

θ = (1.5t² - 6t)

dθ/dt = 3t, d²θ/dt² = 3

at t = 2

r = (2t + 10) = (2*(2) +10) = 14

but dr/dt = 2m/s and d²r/dt² = 0m/s

θ = (1.5(2)² - 6(2) ) = -6rads

dθ/dt =3(2) - 6 = 0rads

d²θ/dt = 3rad/s²

substituting equation i into equation ii,

Fr = M(d²r/dt² + rdθ/dt) = 1.5 (0-0)

∑F = m[rd²θ/dt² + 2dr/dt * dθ/dt]

∑F = 1.5(14*3+0) = 63N

F = √(Fr² +FΘ²) = √(0² + 63²) = 63N
