2) -6

8 is positive and 14 negative. You can either draw a number line and help yourself with that or since the negative one is bigger you can do the subtraction 14 - 8 and then change the sign of the answer.

Simplify the ratio<br> 40 : 28<br> Please show work! If your able too :)
otez555 [7]

Answer:

10:7

Step-by-step explanation:

ratios are simply just like fractions!

this ratio (40:28) can be re-written as 40/28

now, you can simplify this to its lowest terms

40/28=20/14=10/7

first in those steps i re wrote the question, then divided by two, then divided by two again !

so, 40:28=10:7

--------------------------------

you can even check this by cross multiplying, since ratios are fractions

\frac{40}{28} =\frac{10}{7}

40x7=28x10

280=280

they are equivalent which means our ratio is correct :)

hope this helped <333

We have the following three conclusions about the <em>piecewise</em> function evaluated at x = 14.75:

  1. \lim_{t \to 14.75^{-}} f(t) = 66.
  2. \lim_{t \to 14.75^{+}} f(t) = 10.
  3. \lim_{t \to 14.75} f(t) does not exist as \lim_{t \to 14.75^{-}} f(t) \ne  \lim_{t \to 14.75^{+}} f(t).

<h3>How to determinate the limit in a piecewise function</h3>

In a <em>piecewise</em> function, the limit for a given value exists when the two <em>lateral</em> limits are the same and, thus, continuity is guaranteed. Otherwise, the limit does not exist.

According to the definition of <em>lateral</em> limit and by observing carefully the figure, we have the following conclusions:

  1. \lim_{t \to 14.75^{-}} f(t) = 66.
  2. \lim_{t \to 14.75^{+}} f(t) = 10.
  3. \lim_{t \to 14.75} f(t) does not exist as \lim_{t \to 14.75^{-}} f(t) \ne  \lim_{t \to 14.75^{+}} f(t).

<u>Corrected Question</u>

Ping lives at the corner of 3rd Street and 6th Avenue. Ari lives at the corner of 21st Street and 18th Avenue. There is a gym 2/3 the distance from Ping's home to Ari's home.  Where is the gym?

  • 9th Street and 10th Avenue
  • 12th Street and 12th Avenue
  • 14th Street and 12th Avenue
  • 15th Street and 14th Avenue

Answer:

(D)15th Street and 14th Avenue

Step-by-step explanation:

Ping's Location: (3rd Street, 6th Avenue)

Ari's Location: (21st Street, 18th Avenue)

The gym is at point P which is \dfrac{2}{3} the distance from Ping's home to Ari's home.

That is, Point P divides the line segment in the ratio 2:1.

We use the section formula:

(x,y)=\left(\dfrac{mx_2+nx_1}{m+n}, \dfrac{my_2+ny_1}{m+n}\right)

m:n=2:1, (x_1,y_1)=(3,6), (x_2,y_2)=(21,18)

=\left(\dfrac{2*21+1*2}{2+1}, \dfrac{2*18+1*6}{2+1}\right)\\=\left(\dfrac{45}{3}, \dfrac{42}{3}\right)\\=(15,14)

The gym is located at 15th Street and 14th Avenue.

The cost to a store for a box of cereal is $2.50. The store is selling the box of cereal for $3.50. What is the percent of marku
zysi [14]
Well, the cereal cost 2.5, and the store is selling for 3.5, so is 1 buck more.

if we take 2.5 to be the 100%, what is 1 off of it in percentage?

\bf \begin{array}{ccll}&#10;amount&\%\\&#10;\text{\textemdash\textemdash\textemdash}&\text{\textemdash\textemdash\textemdash}\\&#10;2.5&100\\&#10;1&p&#10;\end{array}\implies \cfrac{2.5}{1}=\cfrac{100}{p}\implies p=\cfrac{1\cdot 100}{2.5}\implies p=\stackrel{\%}{40}
