Figures ABCD and PQRS are parallelogram find x and y (lengths are in metres) Part i and ii.

Mathematics
1 answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

For 1st question

In a parm ABCD

5x - 4 = 16 ( being opposite sides of parallelogram)

5x = 16 + 4

5x = 20

x = 20 / 5

x = 4

3y + 1 = 22 (being opposite sides of parallelogram)

3y = 22 -1

3y = 21

y = 21 / 3

y = 7

For second question

In parm PQRS

Diagonals bisect each other so

x + 4 = 12

x = 12 - 4

x = 8

x + y = 32

8 + y = 32

y = 32 - 8

y = 24

Hope it will help :)❤

What is the value of x?
tekilochka [14]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

since we can see that the lines are parallel

and we can see that the both are interior angles and when we sum up both angles we get 180

2x - 5  + 45 = 180

2x  + 40 =180

2x = 180 - 40

2x =140

x = 140/2

x = 70

LabTech is a company that manufactures microscopes and other laboratory instruments . On occasion, one of the microscopes is def
Scrat [10]

Answer:

0.0782 (7.82%)

Step-by-step explanation:

The required probability will be found by using the Binomial Distribution which fits the case of n independent events each with a probability of success equal to p with k successes.

The PMF (Probability Mass Function) is

f(k,n,p)=\binom{n}{k}p^kq^{n-k}

Where q = 1-p

LabTech states that the probability that a microscope is defective is 0.17%, p=0.0017, q=0.9983. We need to know the probability that k=1 microscope is defective out of a set of n=50 of them. We now apply the formula

f(1,50,0.0017)=\binom{50}{1}0.0017^10.9983^{49}=0,0782

Which means that there is a 7.82% of probability to get 1 defective microscope out of the first 50

The rectangle shown is dilated by a scale factor of 1/5
Harrizon [31]

Answer:

A'B'= 3 cm and B'D' = 1.6 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

First of all, we are told that the scale factor = 1/5

Now,we know that If the scale factor is less than 1, then the dilation is a reduction.

Thus, in this question the dilation is a reduction.

For us to calculate the dimensions of the dilated rectangle, we'll multiply the original dimensions by the scale factor

Thus;

A'B' = AB(1/5)

A'B' = 15(1/5) = 3 cm

B'D' = BD(1/5) = 8(1/5) = 1.6 cm

Thus, The length of each side of the dilated rectangle are;

A'B'= 3 cm and B'D' = 1.6 cm

A survey of 1,562 randomly selected adults showed that 522 of them have heard of a new electronic reader. The accompanying techn
tester [92]

Answer:

a) We want to test the claim that 35% of adults have heard of the new electronic reader, then the system of hypothesis are.:

Null hypothesis:p=0.35

Alternative hypothesis:p \neq 0.35

And is a two tailed test

b) z=\frac{0.334 -0.35}{\sqrt{\frac{0.35(1-0.35)}{1562}}}=-1.326

c) p_v =2*P(z

d) Null hypothesis:p=0.35

e) Fail to reject the null hypothesis because the P-value is greater than the significance level, alpha.

Step-by-step explanation:

Information provided

n=1562 represent the random sample selected

X=522 represent the people who have heard of a new electronic reader

\hat p=\frac{522}{1562}=0.334 estimated proportion of people who have heard of a new electronic reader

p_o=0.35 is the value to verify

\alpha=0.05 represent the significance level

z would represent the statistic

p_v represent the p value

Part a

We want to test the claim that 35% of adults have heard of the new electronic reader, then the system of hypothesis are.:

Null hypothesis:p=0.35

Alternative hypothesis:p \neq 0.35

And is a two tailed test

Part b

The statistic for this case is given :

z=\frac{\hat p -p_o}{\sqrt{\frac{p_o (1-p_o)}{n}}} (1)

Replacing the info given we got:

z=\frac{0.334 -0.35}{\sqrt{\frac{0.35(1-0.35)}{1562}}}=-1.326

Part c

We can calculate the p value using the laternative hypothesis with the following probability:

p_v =2*P(z

Part d

The null hypothesis for this case would be:

Null hypothesis:p=0.35

Part e

The best conclusion for this case would be:

Fail to reject the null hypothesis because the P-value is greater than the significance level, alpha.
