Answer:

Over the ages the tendency of crop improvement efforts has been to select varieties with traits that give the highest return, largely by concentrating on genetic strains that combine the most desirable traits. The resulting homogeneity and uniformity can offer substantial advantages in both the quantity and quality of crop harvested, but this same genetic homogeneity can also reflect greater susceptibility or pathogens. Thus it appears the more that agricultural selection disturbs the natural balance in favor of variety uniformity over large areas, the more vulnerable such varieties are to losses from epidemics. The increased risks presented by genetic selection and the increased cultivation of only a few selected cultivars are easily perceived. Chapters 1 and 2 of this reports focus on crop vulnerability, because it is a broadly recognized problem. The issue of genetic vulnerability, however, is only one of several important problems affecting the management of global genetic resources.

Regrowth of grasses, ferns, wildflowers, and saplings after a forest fire is an example of
larisa86 [58]

Regrowth of grasses, ferns, wildflowers, and saplings after a forest fire is an example of secondary succession.

Secondary succession is one of the two main forms of ecological succession of plant life that is initiated by an occurrence such as harvesting, or forest fire, that has a negative impact or diminishes  an already established ecosystem such as a forest or a wheat field to a lower number of species. Several factors such as initial composition, trophic interaction, and competition-colonization trade-offs can influence secondary succession.

Which factor would increase an area's carrying capacity for prairie dogs
Tasya [4]

The correct answer is option B, that is, increased availability of food.

The carrying capacity of a biological species in surrounding refers to the majority of the size of the population of the species, which the environment can maintain indeterminately, given the habitat, food, water, and other essential necessities in the environment.

In terms of population biology, carrying capacity is illustrated as the maximum load that can be handled by the environment. Thus, in the given case, the carrying capacity of the prairie dogs in an area gets increased with the increase in the availability of food.
