(a) What is the acceleration due to gravity on the surface of the Moon?
wolverine [178]
<h2>a)  Acceleration due to gravity on the surface of the Moon is 1.64 m/s²</h2><h2>b) Acceleration due to gravity on the surface of the Mars is 3.75 m/s²</h2>

Explanation:

a) Acceleration due to gravity

                  g=\frac{GM}{r^2}

         G = 6.67 × 10⁻¹¹ m² kg⁻¹ s⁻²

  Mass of moon, M = 7.35 × 10²² kg

  Radius of moon, r = 1.73 × 10⁶ m

  Substituting

                  g=\frac{6.67\times 10^{-11}\times 7.35\times 10^{22}}{(1.73\times 10^{6})^2}=1.64m/s^2

Acceleration due to gravity on the surface of the Moon is 1.64 m/s²

b) Acceleration due to gravity

                  g=\frac{GM}{r^2}

         G = 6.67 × 10⁻¹¹ m² kg⁻¹ s⁻²

  Mass of Mars, M = 6.418 × 10²³ kg

  Radius of Mars, r = 3.38 × 10⁶ m

  Substituting

                  g=\frac{6.67\times 10^{-11}\times 6.418\times 10^{23}}{(3.38\times 10^{6})^2}=3.75m/s^2

Acceleration due to gravity on the surface of the Mars is 3.75 m/s²

What are the differences between convex lens and convex mirrors ?
MaRussiya [10]

Answer:

The mirror is opaque while the lens is transparent

Explanation:

The lens is transparent throughout (lets light pass through), while the mirror reflects light. You are basically asking for the difference between a lens and a mirror

But how about the the behaviors of the convex mirror and convex lens? The convex lens will let light pass through and focus it on the other side of it. If you stand on one side of the lens, you can see what is on the other side of it. Think about a camera lens that's just curved!The convex mirror will reflect the light on the same side of it you'll basically will just see yourself but you'll look funny.

A student throws a rock horizontally off a 5.0 m tall building. The rock's initial speed is 6.0 m/s. How long will it take the r
Archy [21]

Answer:

The time taken by the rock to reach the ground is 0.569 seconds.

Explanation:

Given that,

A student throws a rock horizontally off a 5.0 m tall building, s = 5 m

The initial speed of the rock, u = 6 m/s

We need to find the time taken by the rock to reach the ground. Using second equation of motion to find it. We get :

s=ut+\dfrac{1}{2}gt^2\\\\5=6t+\dfrac{1}{2}\times 9.8t^2\\\\t=0.569\ seconds

So, the time taken by the rock to reach the ground is 0.569 seconds. Hence, this is the required solution.

Which of the following types of waves can transmit only through matter? Select all that apply. (Hint: there are 2)
Anarel [89]
A) seismic waves
b) sound waves

sound waves are traveling vibrations of particles in media (air, water, metal, etc) so they can’t travel through empty space (vacuums) because there are no atoms or molecules to vibrate.

seismic waves are mechanical waves and require a medium for propagation, hence, they cannot travel through a vacuum.

hope this helps :)
