The hypotenuse of a right triangle is 10cm long. The longer leg is 2cm longer than the shorter leg. Find the side lengths of the
Crazy boy [7]
We need Pythagoras theorem here
a^2+b^2 = c^2
a, b =  legs of a right-triangle
c = length of hypotenuse

Let S=shorter leg, in cm, then longer leg=S+2 cm
use Pythagoras theorem
S^2+(S+2)^2 = (10 cm)^2
expand (S+2)^2
S^2 +   S^2+4S+4  = 100 cm^2   [collect terms and isolate]
2S^2+4S =  100-4 = 96 cm^2
simplify and form standard form of quadratic
S^2+2S-48=0
Solve by factoring
(S+8)(S-6) = 0   means (S+8)=0, S=-8
or                                   (S-6)=0, S=6
Reject nengative root, so
Shorter leg = 6 cm
Longer leg = 6+2 cm = 8 cm
Hypotenuse (given) = 10 cm

Find the value of x (sines and cosines)
Sav [38]
You would begin by choosing which trigonometric function to use.
In this case, you would use sine.

Sine is opposite over hypotenuse.
Opposite of the 35 degree angle is 18, and you want to find the hypotenuse which is x.

sin(35) = \frac{18}{x} (multiply x to both sides)
x sin(35) = 18 (divide sin(35) to both sides)
x = 31.38204...

So, therefore x = 31.38. I don't know what decimal point you're supposed to round to, so I'm gonna guess the hundredths place. :)

Equiangular polygon has how many sides exterior angle is 25
Softa [21]
If the exterior angle is 25o then the interior angle is its supplement.
The interior angle = 180 - 25 = 155 degrees. All angles are equal in the interior.
The sides aren't.

I'm hoping you get an answer besides mine. I can take you so far.
The formula for an interior angle is

180(1 - 2/n) = Interior angle. When you solve this you get
180(1 - 2/n) = 155
1 - 2/n = 155/180
1 - 2/n = 0.86111111
- 2/n = 0.8611111 - 1
2/n = 0.13888888
2 / 0,1388888 = n
n = 14.4

You can google equiangular polygon theorem to see where I got the formula. The problem is that I really don't know how to interpret the answer. It looks like you have 14 conguent sides and 1 that is 0.4 left over. The figure might still be equiangular.
