Answer

Find out what does the average rate of change of d(t) from t = 2 to t = 5 represent .

To prove

Formula

Average\ rate\ of\ change = \frac{d(5) - d(2)}{change\ in\ time}

As given

The distance traveled, in feet, of a ball dropped from a tall building is modeled by the equation d(t) = 16t²

 where d equals the distance traveled at time t seconds .

Now

d(5) = 16 × 5 × 5

      = 400 feet

d(2) = 16 × 2 × 2

      = 64 feet

Now

Change in time = 5 - 2

                          = 3 second

put all the values in the above formula

Average\ rate\ of\ change = \frac{400 - 64}{3}

Average\ rate\ of\ change = \frac{336}{3}

Average rate of change is 112 feet/second.

The average rate of change of height is speed.

The average rate of change of d(t) on t ∈ [2, 5] represents the ball's average speed over that interval of time.

A bag contains 7 red marbles, 3 blue marbles and 5 green marbles. If three marbles
worty [1.4K]

Answer:

3.7%

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that from this situation, the probability of drawing a single green marble is 1/3. However, to find the probability of drawing 3 green marbles, we will need to do:

P= \frac{1}{3}* \frac{1}{3}*\frac{1}{3}

We get a probability of:

P= \frac{1}{27}

This converts to a percentage of:

\frac{1}{27}= 0.037 \\ 0.037*100= 3.7%

We get a percentage of 3.7%

A group of three undergraduate and five graduate students are available to fill certain student government posts. If four studen
creativ13 [48]

Answer:

Pr = 0.4286

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Let

U \to\\ Undergraduates

G \to Graduates

So, we have:

U = 3; G =5 -- Total students

r = 4 --- students to select

Required

P(U =2)

From the question, we understand that 2 undergraduates are to be selected; This means that 2 graduates are to be selected.

First, we calculate the total possible selection (using combination)

^nC_r = \frac{n!}{(n-r)!r!}

So, we have:

Total = ^{U + G}C_r

Total = ^{3 + 5}C_4

Total = ^8C_4

Total = \frac{8!}{(8-4)!4!}

Total = \frac{8!}{4!4!}

Using a calculator, we have:

Total = 70

The number of ways of selecting 2 from 3 undergraduates is:

U = ^3C_2

U = \frac{3!}{(3-2)!2!}

U = \frac{3!}{1!2!}

U = 3

The number of ways of selecting 2 from 5 graduates is:

G = ^5C_2

G = \frac{5!}{(5-2)!2!}

G = \frac{5!}{3!2!}

G =10

So, the probability is:

Pr = \frac{G * U}{Total}

Pr = \frac{10*3}{70}

Pr = \frac{30}{70}

Pr = 0.4286
