It’s important because at this stage, teens are going through a more intense period of growth and learning. Teens must learn to mange their emotions/ feelings and think about how they feel and not acting out in a way that may hurt another person. If one is feeling angry, they must learn to not let that feeling control their behaviour such as hitting, screaming etc. And instead by talking it out with an adult, going for a walk to let out steam, listening to music etc.

The development of motor skills is key as if a young child does not learn these skills they'll find life activities troublesome these activities include: writing, painting, tying shoelaces, playing with toys such as lego etc. certain children may have problems learning fine motor skills due to disabilities such as: Atention deficit disorder, foetal alcohol disorder and autism.
