use alcohol B. it makes for certain that I will abuse alcohol C. It make it more likely that I will abuse alcohol D. It doesn't affect my likelihood to abuse alcohol

When you would have a peer that would be a drinker of alcohol. I would say that it would be a 50/50 chance that you could (in general) would be a drunkered as well. This would be noted as having peer-pressure, the fact that you would see your friends or family drinking, and most likely you would also fall into that temptation also.

You also have privacy while working out and have the freedom to work out whenever you want. Drawback is that you really have to have a dedication and motivation to use the equipment long time. Another drawback is that it takes up space and you must consider the fact that maybe you will need to repair the equipment and those costs can be quite expensive.
