Mathematics

Pattern #1:  (I think it should have started with 7, not 17)

7 -> 14     either added 7 or multiplied by 2

14 -> 8     subracted 6

8 -> 16     either added 8 or multplied by 2

16 -> 10    subtracted 6

10 -> 20   added 10 or multiplied by 2.

The pattern seems to be multiply by 2, then subtract 6, repeat.

14 -> 28

28 -> 22

Pattern #2:

11 -> 13     added 2

13 -> 16    added 3

16 -> 20   added 4

20 -> 25  added 5

25 -> 31   added 6

31 -> 38   added 7

to finish...

38 + 8 = 46

46 + 9 = 55

Determine if the scenario is independent or dependent:
Lady_Fox [76]

Answer:

dependent

Step-by-step explanation:

A scenario is called independent if the outcome of one event will not influence the outcome of the other. We are trying to assign a position for each player so that everyone gets a position. But we also need to make no one can have more than one position.

Let's say we have position X, Y, Z for player A, B, C. First you assign the position for player A, there will be 3 possible positions (A/B/C). If you assign position X to player A, player B can't get the X position so the possible outcome is only two(B or C). This makes the scenario dependent because the outcome of the first roll will influence the possible outcome of the next roll.

Find the sides, and the value of x and y.
Gelneren [198K]

Answer:

\huge\boxed{x=15;\ y=4}

Step-by-step explanation:

Proportion:

\dfrac{x}{18}=\dfrac{5}{6}\qquad|\text{cross multiply}\\\\(x)(6)=(18)(5)\\\\6x=90\qquad|\text{divide both sides by 6}\\\\\huge\boxed{x=15}

\dfrac{y}{5}=\dfrac{12}{x}

substitute x = 15:

\dfrac{y}{5}=\dfrac{12:3}{15:3}\\\\\dfrac{y}{5}=\dfrac{4}{5}\qquad|\text{cross multiply}\\\\(y)(5)=(5)(4)\\\\5y=20\qquad|\text{divide both sides by 5}\\\\\huge\boxed{y=4}

Please help solve 20 points.
Bond [772]

Answer: scroll down to find out :)

Step-by-step explanation:

This isn't a hard equation, so I would just use the points and figure something out.

Some obvious points are (3, 6), (6, 12), and (7, 14). Immediately, we notice that the y coordinate is 2 times the x coordinate.

So, the equation would be y = 2x.

<em>P.S. Let me know if I got it wrong! I'll be more than happy to fix it :)</em>
