Smallpox is a virus with a fatality rate of about 30%, and those that survive the disease have terrible scarring and lingering p

roblems. Edward Jenner is famous for a now notorious experiment in which he developed the first vaccine for smallpox. In the experiment Jenner first exposed a small boy to cowpox, which is relatively harmless. The boy got cowpox and recovered. Jenner then exposed the boy to smallpox by walking him through a hospital ward. The boy lived.
Which conclusion is NOT valid?
A) Cowpox virus can be used as a vaccine against smallpox.
B) Immunity to cowpox virus also grants immunity to smallpox.
C) Cowpox virus and smallpox virus are probably very similar.
D) Smallpox virus would be a good choice for a vaccine against cowpox.

Answer: Option D

Explanation:

The small pox virus would not be a good choice for a vaccine against cowpox. This is so because the intensity of the disease differs.

The small pox is more severe and its virus cannot be used in a attenuated form to generate immune response for small pox.

There are chances that doing so might kill the person with small pox as it has high fatality rate than cowpox. Even if its is cured it leaves marks and scars.

So, small pox virus cannot be used as a vaccine against cowpox.

Answer:

C) Smallpox and Cowpox are similar.

Explanation:

Scientists used Cowpox vaccinations to test how well a smallpox vaccination work, using the Cowpox vaccine as a benchmark to base smallpox off of.

How many moles of electrons are transferred when 2.0 moles of aluminum metal react with excess copper(II) nitrate in aqueous sol
mojhsa [17]

Moles of electrons:

The moles of electrons that are transferred are 12F

A balanced equation:

2 moles of Aluminium metal react with excess copper(II) nitrate.

2Al + 3Cu{(NO_3)}_2  \rightarrow 2Al{(NO_3)}_3 +3 Cu

Given:

Moles of Aluminium = 2

As Aluminium goes from 0 to +3 oxidation state

Al \rightarrow Al^{3+} + 3e^-

And copper goes from +2 to 0

Cu^{2+} + 2e^-\rightarrow Cu

On balancing the number of electrons we get:

For 1 mole of Al 6e^- is required.

Therefore for 2 moles of Al,

Total (2\times6)F mole of electrons

Where F= Faraday's constant= 96500 C

So, 12F moles of electrons are transferred.

At 7 degrees Celsius the volume of gas is 49 liters. At the same pressure its volume is 74 mL at what temperature
Romashka-Z-Leto [24]
Charle's law gives the relationship between volume and temperature of gas.
It states that at constant pressure, volume of gas is directly proportional to temperature of gas.
V/T = k
where V - volume , T - temperature and k- constant
\frac{V1}{T1} =  \frac{V2}{T2}
parameters for the first instance are on the left side of the equation and parameters for the second instance are on the right side of the equation
T1 - 7 °C + 273 = 280 K
substituting these values in the equation
\frac{49 mL}{280K} =  \frac{74 mL}{T}
T = 423 K
temperature in Celcius scale - 423 K - 273 = 150 °C
