Answer: 0.42watts

Explanation:

Energy of the battery = 500 J

Time = 1200 seconds

Power of the instrument = ?

Recall that power is the rate of energy expended in doing work. Thus, power is energy expended divided by time taken.

i.e Power = (energy/time)

Power = 500J/1200 seconds

Power = 0.416 watts (Round to the nearest hundredth which is 0.42 watts)

Thus, the power of the instrument is 0.42watts

Describe in terms of kinetic and potential energy what happens if an apple falls from a tree and comes to rest on the ground( wr
Lunna [17]

Answer:

An apple hanging at a branch has potential energy due its position. It can be written as PE= mgh where m is the mass of the apple h is the distance between the apple and the ground and g is the acceleration due to gravity.

as the apple falls from the tree it loses its potential energy and gains kinetic energy due to the movement of the apple. Its kinetic energy will be given by KE= 1/2mv²  where m is the mass of the apple and v is the speed with which the apple falls.

As the apple falls the height or the distance reduces and PE becomes reduces. But it gains Kinetic energy due to its speed.

But when the apple falls to the ground and comes to rest its kinetic energy is converted to potential energy.

thus the total energy remains the same. it changes from one form to the other but remains unaltered.

The sport with the fastest moving ball is jai alai, where measured speeds can be 286 km/h. If a professional jai alai player fac
cricket20 [7]

Answer:

d= 794.4 cmExplanation:

Given that

Speed ,V= 286 km/h

=286\times \dfrac{1000}{3600}\ m/s

V=79.44 m/s

Given that time ,t= 100 ms

t= 0.1 s

We know that ( if acceleration is zero)

Distance = Speed x time

d= V t

Now by putting the values in the above equation

d = 79.44 x 0.1 m

d= 7.944 m

We know that 1 m = 100 cm

d= 794.4 cm

A wave travels at a constant speed.How does the frequency change if the wavelength is reduced by a factor of 3 The frequency dec
nata0808 [166]

Answer:

The frequency increases by a factor of 3.

Explanation:

The relation between speed, wavelength and frequency of a wave is given by :

v=f\lambda

or

f\propto \dfrac{1}{\lambda}

A wave travels at a constant speed. If the wavelength is reduced by a factor of 3, it would mean that the frequency increases by a factor of 3 because there is an inverse relationship between wavelength and frequency.

The velocity of the transverse waves produced by an earthquake is 5.05 km/s, while that of the longitudinal waves is 8.585 km/s.
sattari [20]

Answer:

d=691.71km

Explanation:

The time lag between the arrival of transverse waves and the arrival of the longitudinal waves is defined as:

t=\frac{d}{v_t}-\frac{d}{v_l}

Here d is the distance at which the earthquake take place and v_t, v_l is the velocity of the transverse waves and longitudinal waves respectively. Solving for d:

t=d(\frac{1}{v_t}-\frac{1}{v_l})\\d=\frac{t}{\frac{1}{v_t}-\frac{1}{v_l}}\\d=\frac{56.4s}{\frac{1}{5.05\frac{km}{s}}-\frac{1}{8.585\frac{km}{s}}}\\d=691.71km
