15.0 mm = 15/10 = 1.5 cm
1.20 m = 1.2 x 100 = 120 cm

Volume = length x width x height = 120 x 1.5 x 5 = 900 cm3

A laser used to read CDs emits red light of wavelength 700 nm. How many photons does it emit each second if its power is?(a) 0.1
Elenna [48]

power = work/time

watt = joule/sec

a) power = 0.10 watt = 0.1joules/sec

work = power * time

= 0.10 * 1 =0.1joules

work is northing but energy

therefore energy is 0.1joules

according to planks quantum theory E = nhν where nis the no. of photons ; h is planks constant; ν isfrequency

hence, n = E/hν

or n = Eλ/hc (ν = c/λ)

n = (0.1*700*10^-9)/6.625*10^-34*3*10^8 = 0.3522*10^18photons

b) similar to the above calculation

here E = 1.0joules

n = (1.0*700*10^-9)/6.625*10^-34*3*10^8 = 0.3522*10^17photons

Summarize our current
WARRIOR [948]

Answer:

Atoms have protons and neutrons in the center, making the nucleus, while the electrons orbit the nucleus. The modern atomic theory states that atoms of one element are the same, while atoms of different elements are different.Atoms consist of three basic particles: protons, electrons, and neutrons. The nucleus (center) of the atom contains the protons (positively charged) and the neutrons (no charge). The outermost regions of the atom are called electron shells and contain the electrons (negatively charged).

Which statement correctly compares the masses of subatomic particles in an atom such as carbon?
iogann1982 [59]

Answer:

C- A proton has about the same mass as a neutron .

Explanation:

In an atom such as a carbon atom, the masses of the proton and neutrons are the same.

The mass of the electrons is very negligible.

  • Protons are the positively charged particles in an atom
  • Neutrons do not carry any charges
  • Both protons and neutrons have similar masses.
  • They contribute the bulk of the mass of the atom.
  • The electrons carry negative charges and they have negligible masses.

The mass of protons and neutrons are similar.
