The formula for the midpoint is.. 

midpoint = ((x + x1)/2, (y + y1)/2) 

Since M(6,6) is the mipoint, and S(8,9) is the endpoint... 

(6,6) = ((x + 8)/2, (y + 9)/2) 

6 = (x + 8)/2 
12 = x + 8 
x = 4 

6 = (y + 9)/2 
12 = y + 9 
y = 3 

Hence, the coordinates of R is (4,3) in terms of (x,y) [A]
