Correct. If you think about a baseball that has just been launched from a spaceship into space with nothing around to interfere with it (e.g. a planet or moon's gravitational pull), it cannot just speed up or slow down just because it feels like it. Something has to act upon it from outside the system. In this case, the system is the baseball.

An object is suspended from the ceiling with two wires that make an angle of 40° with the ceiling. The weight of the body is 150
MaRussiya [10]
Refer to the diagram shown below.

Let T =  the tension in each wire.
For equilibrium,
2T cos(50°) = 150 N
1.2856T = 150
T = 116.677 N ≈ 117 N

Answer: 117 N

What is the spring coefficient of a spring that stores 4000 joules of energy
Verizon [17]

Answer:

222.2N/m

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Elastic potential energy = 4000J

Extension  = 6m

Unknown:

Spring coefficient  = ?

Solution:

The elastic potential energy is the energy stored within a string.

It is expressed as;

           EPE = \frac{1}{2} k e²

k is the spring constant

e is the extension

         4000  =  \frac{1}{2} x k x 6²

        8000  =  36k

          k  = 222.2N/m

What is the acceleration of a Porsche that can go from 15 mi/hr to 75 mi/hr in 4 seconds?
Elodia [21]

Hi there!

Acceleration = change in velocity / change in time = Δv/Δt

Thus:

a = (75 - 15)/4 = 60/4 = 15 mi/hr²
