Julie and Eric row their boat at a constant speed of 48 miles downstream for 6 hours, helped by the current. Rowing at the same

rate, the trip back against the current takes 8 hours. Find the rate of the current

Solve for the two velocities:
with the current = 48/6 = 8 mph
against the current = 48/8 = 6 mph
bv= boat velocity in still water
cv = current velocity
A) bv -cv = 6mph
B) bv + cv = 8mph
Adding both equations
2 * bv = 14 mph
boat velocity = 7 mph
current velocity = 1 mph

Answer:

Inverse of f exists.

Step-by-step explanation:

From the graph attached,

If we do the horizontal line test for the function graphed,

We find the function as one to one function.

In other words for every input value (x-value) there is a different output value.

Since, for one-to-one functions, inverse of the functions exist.

Therefore, the answer will be,

The inverse of 'f' exists.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

First, you gotta work out the hypotenuse of ABC, which is AC.

To do that, you need to figure out the scale factor between the two right-angled triangles. You can do that for this question because this is a similar shapes question.

12.5/5 = 2.5

The scale factor length between the two triangles is 2.5.

You can use 2.5 now to work out AC, so AC would be 13 x 2.5, which gives 32.5.

Now that you've got the hypotenuse and BC of ABC, you can use Pythagoras's theorem to work out the length of AB

Pythagoras's theorem = a^2 + b^2 = c^2

a = BC = 12.5

b = AB = we need to work this out

c = AC (the hypotenuse we just worked out) = 32.5

12.5^2 + b^2 = 32.5^2 Let's both simplify and rearrange this at the same time so that we have our b on one side.

b^{2} = 1056.25 - 156.25

b = \sqrt{(1056.25 - 156.25)}

b = \sqrt{900}

b = AB = 30  We've found b or AB, now we can work out the perimeter of ABC.

Perimeter of ABC = AB + BC + AC

= 30 + 12.5 + 32.5

= 75  Here's the perimeter for ABC.
