Two carbon atoms (Group 14) bond with two hydrogen atoms (Group 1) to form acetylene (C2H2). How would each carbon atom in acety

lene bond?(1 point)
Each carbon atom would share one pair of electrons with the other carbon atom and three pairs with each hydrogen atom.

In acetylene each carbon atom share one pair of electrons with hydrogen atom and three pairs with the other carbon atom.

Carbon atom has four electrons its outermost shell it means that it needs four electrons to become stable. In acetylene, two carbon atoms covalently bonded three pairs of electron with each other and the one remaining pair is covalently bonded with two hydrogen atoms.

In this way the carbon as well as hydrogen atoms get stability so we can conclude that in acetylene each carbon atom share one pair of electrons with hydrogen atom and three pairs with the other carbon atom.

In C2H2, each carbon atom would share one pair of electrons with hydrogen and three pairs with the other carbon atom.

Acetylene has the molecular formula C2H2. We must recall that carbon is a member of group 14 and it is always tetravalent in all its compounds. Hydrogen is always univalent in its compounds except in hydrides.

Since carbon is always tetravalent and hydrogen is univalent,each carbon atom would share one pair of electrons with hydrogen and three pairs with the other carbon atom in C2H2.

A solution of acetic acid has a pH of 3.45. What is the concentration of acetic acid in this solution? Ka for CH3COOH is 1.8×10-
Serjik [45]

Answer:

0.007 M

Explanation:

pH is defined as the negative logarithm of the concentration of hydrogen ions.

Thus,

pH = - log [H⁺]

The expression of the pH of the calculation of weak acid is:-

pH=-log(\sqrt{k_a\times C})

Where, C is the concentration = ?

Given, pH = 3.45

So, for CH_3COOH, K_a=1.8\times 10^{-5}

3.45=-log(\sqrt{1.8\times 10^{-5}\times C})

\log _{10}\left(\sqrt{1.8\cdot \:10^{-5}C}\right)=-3.45

C = 0.007 M

Name the following compound:
krok68 [10]

Answer:

2-hexanone

Explanation:

First, we'll begin by:

1. Locating the longest continuous chain i.e haxane

2. Determine the functional group in the compound. The functional group in ketone (C=O). This changes the name from hexane to hexanone i.e replacing the -e in at the end in hexane with -one to make it hexanone.

3. Give the functional group the lowest low count. In doing this, we'll start counting from the left. The functional group is at carbon 2.

Note: no substitute group is attached.

Now, in naming the compound, we must indicate the position of functional group as illustrated below:

The name of the compound is:

2-hexanone

The electrons in a metallic bond can be describe as
gtnhenbr [62]

Answer:

in metallic bonds, the valence electrons from the s and p orbitals of the interacting metal atoms delocalize. That is to say, instead of orbiting their respective metal atoms, they form a “sea” of electrons that surrounds the positively charged atomic nuclei of the interacting metal ions. ... Metals are shiny.
