pls solve quickly!: It took a boat 2 hours to reach town A going upstream. The way back was 1h20 min. What is the speed of the b
goldenfox [79]

Answer:

15 mph

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: Boat took 2 hours to reach Town A going upstream.

           Speed of stream= 3 mph

           Time taken to reach back home= 1 hours 20 minutes

Lets assume distance covered one side be "d" and speed of boat in still water be "s".

∴ Speed of boat in upstream= (s-3) \ mph

   Speed of boat in downstream= (s+3)\ mph

Also converting into fraction of time taken to reach back home.

Remember; 1 hour= 60 minutes

∴ Time taken to reach back home= 60+20= 80\ minutes

Converting time given into fraction= \frac{80\ minutes}{60\ minutes} = \frac{4}{3} \ hours

hence, Time taken to reach back home is \frac{4}{3} \ hours

Now forming equation of boat travelling upstream and downstream, considering distance remain constant.

We know, Distance= speed \times time

⇒ (s-3)\times 2= (s+3)\times \frac{4}{3}

Using distributive property of multiplication

⇒2s-6= \frac{4}{3}s +4

subtracting both side by \frac{4}{3} s

⇒2s-\frac{4}{3} s-6= 4

Adding both side by 6

⇒ 2s-\frac{4}{3} s= 10

taking LCD as 3

⇒ \frac{2}{3} s= 10

Multiplying both side by \frac{3}{2}

⇒s= \frac{3}{2} \times 10

∴s= 15 mph

Hence, 15 mph is the speed of the boat in still water.

Use Pythagorean Theorem to solve for the
babymother [125]
Pythagorean theorem is all about squaring the numbers. the equation is a^2+b^2=c^2
when you know two sides of the triangle, you fill in those spaces. they hypotenuse is ALWAYS ‘c’

to figure this problem out you put
a as 4
keep b as b since you don’t know what it is
c as 6

4 squared=16
6 squared=36

16+b^2=36
36-16=20
square root of 20 is 4.47

And can you please explain what does <br> SAS-AA-ASA-SSS mean
Jet001 [13]
This is how a triangle is equal to one another, SAS is side angle side, AA is angle angle, ASA is angle side angle, and SSS is side side side, yours looks like AA but I might be wrong. I believe it is AA, so if you have no clue just go with AA

On a linear X temperature scale, water freezes at −115.0°X and boils at 325.0°X. On a linear Y temperature scale, water freezes
belka [17]

Answer:

The current temperature on the X scale is 1150 °X.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let is determine first the ratio of change in X linear temperature scale to change in Y linear temperature scale:

r = \frac{\Delta T_{X}}{\Delta T_{Y}}

r = \frac{325\,^{\circ}X-(-115\,^{\circ}X)}{-25\,^{\circ}Y - (-65.00\,^{\circ}Y)}

r = 11\,\frac{^{\circ}X}{^{\circ}Y}

The difference between current temperature in Y linear scale with respect to freezing point is:

\Delta T_{Y} = 50\,^{\circ}Y - (-65\,^{\circ}Y)

\Delta T_{Y} = 115\,^{\circ}Y

The change in X linear scale is:

\Delta T_{X} = r\cdot \Delta T_{Y}

\Delta T_{X} = \left(11\,\frac{^{\circ}X}{^{\circ}Y} \right)\cdot (115\,^{\circ}Y)

\Delta T_{X} = 1265\,^{\circ}X

Lastly, the current temperature on the X scale is:

T_{X} = -115\,^{\circ}X + 1265\,^{\circ}X

T_{X} = 1150\,^{\circ}X

The current temperature on the X scale is 1150 °X.
