simply add what you got from your mother and father then subtract from what you spent then the remaining is the answer

You get all together $6,030 from your parents and after you spend $625 you will have $5,405 left and be cause your rounding to the nearest thousand you check if the hundred in your number is above 5 because if it is below 5 you round down making it $5000 but if it were above 5 you would round up making it $6000 but because your amounts hundred is below 5, you will round down making your answer $5000
