It's a linear function y = mx + b.

The graph is a straight line.

We need only two points to plotting a graph of linear function.

Choose two values of x and calculate values of y.

f(x)=\dfrac{1}{2}x+2\to y=\dfrac{1}{2}x+2\\\\for\ x=0\to y=\dfrac{1}{2}(0)+2=0+2=2\to(0,\ 2)\\\\for\ x=-4\to y=\dfrac{1}{2}(-4)+2=-2+2=0\to(-4,\ 0)

If the independent variable becomes very large what would be the expected change in the dependent variable
jenyasd209 [6]

Answer: The independent variable is the variable the experimenter changes or controls and is assumed to have a direct effect on the dependent variable. ... The dependent variable is the variable being tested and measured in an experiment, and is 'dependent' on the independent variable.

Create a set of coordinates to model a relation that is a linear function.
STALIN [3.7K]
I will create a set of arbitrary constants (x1,y1) (x2,y2)

slope = y2-y1/x2-x1

y = (y2-y1/x2-x1)x + b

y2 = (y2-y1/x2-x1)x2 + b

b = y2 - (y2-y1/x2-x1)x2

y = (y2-y1/x2-x1)x + [y2 - (y2-y1/x2-x1)]

Choose any points and just
Plug the values and you have a linear function.

NOT SURE IF THAT'S WHAT THE QUESTION WANTS.
