The area of △XYZ according to the figure is 363ft²

Area of triangles

The formula for calculating the area of a triangle is expressed as:

A = 0.5bh

  • b is the base
  • h is the height

Calculate area of each triangles

For the triangle  △NMO

Area of  △NMO = 0.5bh

147 = 0.5b(14/12)

147 = 7b/12

7b = 12 * 147

b = 252

b = 252ft

b = 3024in

Get the base of △XYZ

14/3024 = 22/XZ

XZ = 4,752in

Area of △XYZ = 0.5 (4,752)(22)

Area of △XYZ= 52,272in²

Area of △XYZ = 363ft²

Hence the area of △XYZ is 363ft²

DIA [1.3K]

Answer:

1 hour

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of hours bowled by Isaiah and Wanda be X

Isaiah spent 16 dollars on shoe rental and 2X on bowling

Wanda spent 13 dollars on shoe rental and 5X on bowling

Since they spent the same amount, set up an equation

16+2X=13+5X

subtract 2X on either side, then subtract 13 from either side we get

3X=3

divide both sides by 3

X=1

A motorcyclist leaves City A and rides at a constant speed towards City B, which is 225 km away. After 1.5 hours, the motorcycli
rewona [7]

Answer:

50 km/hr

Step-by-step explanation:

OK, this is how I solved this problem.

Let r = original rate of speed

     t = time after the stop to finish the trip

Time for trip without stopping is 225/r

(1)     1.5 + .5 + t = 225/r      This is a time equation

(2)    1.5r + t(r + 10) = 225     This is a distance equation

(1)       2 + t = 225/r            (2)      1.5r + tr + 10t = 225

         2r + tr = 225

                tr = 225 - 2r                 1.5r + 225 - 2r + 10(225/r - 2) = 225

                t = 225/r - 2

                                                   -.5r + 225 + 2250/r - 20 = 225

                                                     -5r + 2250 + 22500/r - 200 = 2250

                                                     -5r^2 + 2250r + 22500 - 200r = 2250r

                                                       5r^2 + 200r - 22500 = 0

                                                       5(r^ + 40r - 4500) = 0

                                                           5(r - 50)(r + 90) = 0

                                                                 r = 50   or    r = -90

The rate cannot be negative, so the original speed 50 km/hr

This not an easy problem and I hope you were able to follow my work
