7 0

Answer:

9 19/21

Step-by-step explanation:

2 and 4/7 + 7 3/9 or 7 1/3. If you find common denominator its 21. So 2 and 12/21 and 7 7/21. If you add that would equal 9 19/21.

Hope this helps :)

The mayor is interested in finding a 98% confidence interval for the mean number of pounds of trash per person per week that is
saul85 [17]

Solution :

Given :

Sample mean, $\overline X = 34.2$

Sample size, n = 129

Sample standard deviation, s = 8.2

a. Since the population standard deviation is unknown, therefore, we use the t-distribution.

b. Now for 95% confidence level,

   α = 0.05, α/2 = 0.025

  From the t tables, T.INV.2T(α, degree of freedom), we find the t value as

  t =T.INV.2T(0.05, 128) = 2.34

  Taking the positive value of t, we get

  Confidence interval is ,

  $\overline X \pm t \times \frac{s}{\sqrt n}$

 $34.2 \pm 2.34 \times \frac{8.2}{\sqrt {129}}$

 (32.52, 35.8)

 95% confidence interval is  (32.52, 35.8)

So with $95 \%$ confidence of the population of the mean number of the pounds per person per week is between 32.52 pounds and 35.8 pounds.

c. About $95 \%$ of confidence intervals which contains the true population of mean number of the pounds of the trash that is generated per person per week and about $5 \%$ that doe not contain the true population of mean number of the pounds of trashes generated by per person per week.

Two problems here I need solved! I need every step, so please have that with your answers!!
Free_Kalibri [48]
QUESTION 1

We want to solve,

\frac{1}{(x-4)}+\frac{x}{(x-2)}=\frac{2}{x^{2}-6x+8}

We factor the denominator of the fraction on the right hand side to get,

\frac{1}{(x-4)}+\frac{x}{(x-2)}=\frac{2}{x^{2}-4x - 2x+8}.

This implies
\frac{1}{(x-4)}+\frac{x}{(x-2)}=\frac{2}{x(x-4) - 2(x - 4)}.

\frac{1}{(x-4)}+\frac{x}{(x-2)}=\frac{2}{(x-4)(x - 2)}

We multiply through by LCM of
(x-4)(x - 2)

(x - 2) + x(x-4) = 2

We expand to get,

x - 2 + {x}^{2} - 4x= 2

We group like terms and equate everything to zero,

{x}^{2} + x - 4x - 2 - 2 = 0

We split the middle term,

{x}^{2} + - 3x - 4 = 0

We factor to get,

{x}^{2} + x - 4x- 4 = 0

x(x + 1) - 4(x + 1) = 0

(x + 1)(x - 4) = 0

x + 1 = 0 \: or \: x - 4 = 0

x = - 1 \: or \: x = 4

But
x = 4
is not in the domain of the given equation.

It is an extraneous solution.

\therefore \: x = - 1
is the only solution.

QUESTION 2

\sqrt{x+11} -x=-1

We add x to both sides,

\sqrt{x+11} =x-1

We square both sides,

x + 11 = (x - 1)^{2}

We expand to get,

x + 11 = {x}^{2} - 2x + 1

This implies,

{x}^{2} - 3x - 10 = 0

We solve this quadratic equation by factorization,

{x}^{2} - 5x + 2x - 10 = 0

x(x - 5) + 2(x - 5) = 0

(x + 2)(x - 5) = 0

x + 2 = 0 \: or \: x - 5 = 0

x = - 2 \: or \: x = 5

But
x = - 2
is an extraneous solution

\therefore \: x = 5

HELP^^ LOOK AT THE PICTURE. this is algebra in & out tables ?
s2008m [1.1K]

Answer:

a= 1 , b = 1/16  , c = 1/256 , d= 3/2 , e=4/9  , f= 16/81

Step-by-step explanation:

The first table is given as;

x         4⁻ˣ

-1        4

0        1

2       1/16

4      1/256

a= 1 , b = 1/16  , c = 1/256

The second table is given as;

x             {2/3}^x

-1             3/2

0               1

2              4/9

4              16/81

d= 3/2 , e=4/9  , f= 16/81
