To find the area of a square, <em>we multiply the length by its width </em>

In this case, the length and width of the square area are both 9!

We know this becasue it says "<u>each side of a square piece of cardboard is 9 inches long" </u>

Now let's solve the problem

Area = L × W

Area = 9inches × 9inches

Area = 81 inches²

*I put the "²" above inches because any area of a square is just multiplying the same number by itself or ... in other words... "squaring it"

[ex: 9² = 9 × 9]

How to write a polynomial in standard form
Setler79 [48]

Step-by-step explanation: Standard form is when we take a polynomial and we write it in order from the greatest degree to the smallest degree.

Let's look at an example which I provided in the image attached.

In this polynomial, I have 2 degrees, 1 degree, and 1 degree above the <em>x</em>.

This is not in the form of least to greatest so I need to write it in descending order. Our constant which in this is 27 will be last in polynomial.

So, you look at the degree of each term and then write each in term in order of degree from greatest to least (descending order).

Answer:

Every 18 miles he uses 3 gallons

divide this:

18 ÷ 3 = 6 miles per gallon

30 miles = 30 ÷ 6 = 5 gallons

7 gallons = 7 x 6 = 42 miles

48 miles = 48 ÷ 6 = 8 gallons

10 gallons = 10 x 6 = 60 miles

Hope this helps :D
