Answer:

Weight of object = 11.2 N

Apparent weight = 3.83 N     when immersed

Weight of water displaced = 11.2 - 3.83 = 7.37 N

d (density) W / V       weight / volume      the weight density

Wo = Vo do    weight of object

Ww = Vo dw    where Ww is weight of equivalent volume of water = 7.37

Wo / Ww = do / dw    dividing previous equations

do = 11.2 / 7.37 dw = 1.52 dw

The density of the object is 1.52 that of water

The density of water is 1000 kg / m^3 * 9.8 m/s^2 = 9800 N/m^3

So the weight density is 14900 N/m^3

A certain rain cloud at an altitude of 1.80 km contains 3.20 107 kg of water vapor. How long would it take for a 2.90-kW pump to
kvasek [131]

Answer:

2255 days

Explanation:

height, h = 1.8 km = 1800 m

amount of water, m = 3.2 x 10^7 kg

Power, P = 2.9 kW = 2900 W

Let t be the time taken

Energy required to lift the water,

E = m g h

E = 3.2 x 10^7 x 9.8 x 1800 = 5.65 x 10^11 J

Power, P = Energy / time

t = E / P = (5.65 x 10^11) / 2900

t = 1.95 x 10^8 second

t = 2255 days

thus, the time taken is 2255 days.

A rocket is headed away from earth at a speed of 0.8c. the rocket fires a missile at a speed of 0.7c (the missile is aimed away
dsp73

To solve this problem, let us consider that the Earth is the origin, the initial reference point. Therefore the speed of rocket plus the missile would be 0.8 C

Now after the rocket had moved away from Earth, it fired a missile at a speed of 0.7 C. Now the reference made to this is relative to the rocket. We have established that our initial reference point is the Earth, therefore the real speed of the missile with reference to Earth is:

Speed of missile relative to Earth = 0.8 C + 0.7 C

Speed of missile relative to Earth = 1.5 C

Answer is:
