Every profession has its rules and regulations. The reason why we are directed not to touch the holder or discharge tube while the power to the supply to the gas tube is on because;

  • The discharge tube can create about 5000 V of voltage when connected to power.

  • The gas discharge tubes is often very hot when used with the power supplies and one should not to touch them until they are cooled down.

We  have been taught to stay far was from a high voltage area or system and also we should not dare to touch it.

There are different reasons why we should about these high voltage system or are; The reason is that;

  • Because high voltages often reduce the impedance of our skin, thereby making electricity to flow through our bodies.
