The tank shown in the accompanying figure is being filled by pipes 1 and 2. If the water level is to remain constant, what is th
VMariaS [17]

Answer: 2.93 ft/sec

Explanation:  Calculate the volume/sec entering from the two inlets (Pipes 1 and 2), add them, and then calculate the flow in Pipe 3.

The table illustrates the approach.  I calculated the volume of each pipe for a 1 foot section with the indicated diameters, divided by 2 for the radius of each  using  V = πr²h.  Units of V are in^3/foot length.  Now we can multiply that volume by the flow rate, in ft/sec, to obtain the flow rate in in^3/sec.

Add the two rates from Pipes 1 and 2 (62.14 in^3/sec) to arrive at the flow rate for Pipe 3 necessary to keep the water level constant.  Calculate the volume of 1 foot of Pipe 3 (21.21 in^3/foot) and then divide this into the inflow sum of 62.14 in^3/sec to find the flow rate of Pipe 3 (in feet/sec) necessary to keep the water level constant.

That is 2.93 ft/sec.

How do we infer that there is
Katena32 [7]

Answer:

Not too far removed from Collingwood’s concern with the elimination of physical and moral force via social civilization are accounts of civilized society concerned with the management of violence, if only by removing it from the public sphere. Such a concern is extended in Zygmunt Bauman’s account of civilization to the more general issue of producing readily governable subjects. The “concept of civilization,” he argues, “entered learned discourse in the West as the name of a conscious proselytising crusade waged by men of knowledge and aimed at extirpating the vestiges of wild cultures” (1987, 93).

This proselytizing crusade in the name of civilization is worth considering further. Its rationale is not too difficult to determine when one considers Starobinski’s (1993, 31) assertion: “Taken as a value, civilization constitutes a political and moral norm. It is the criterion against which barbarity, or non-civilization, is judged and condemned.” A similar sort of argument is made by Pagden (1988, 33), who states that civilization “describes a state, social, political, cultural, aesthetic—even moral and physical—which is held to be the optimum condition for all mankind, and this involves the implicit claim that only the civilized can know what it is to be civilized.” It is out of this implicit claim and the judgments passed in its name that the notion of the “burden of civilization” was born. And this, many have argued, is one of the less desirable aspects and outcomes of the idea of civilization

How many robots does bailey nursery own
givi [52]

Answer:

The Bailey family has flourished during its business’ 110-year history. But Bailey Nurseries’ leaders still operate with the belief that the family doesn’t always know best. The company has grown from a one-man operation selling fruit trees and ornamental shrubs to one of the largest wholesale nurseries in the United States, thanks to insights from those who are family and those who aren’t.

“For a business to thrive, you have to ask for outside help,” says Terri McEnaney, president of the Newport-based company and a fourth-generation family member. “We get an outside perspective through family business programs, advisors and our board, because you can get a bit ingrained in your own way of thinking.”

When Bailey Nurseries chose its current leader in 2000, it brought in a facilitator who gathered insights from key employees, board members and owners. Third-generation leaders (and brothers) Gordie and Rod Bailey picked Rod’s daughter McEnaney, who had experience both inside and outside the company.
