All the values of the <em>x</em> <em> </em>for the given function are \sqrt{5},-\sqrt{5}, 10i and -10i.

Given-

Given function is,

x^{4}+95x^2-500=0

Rewrite the equation,

(x^2)^2+95x^2-500=0

Let <em>u </em>in place of x^2 and rewrite the equation in the form of u,

u^2+95u-500=0

Break the 95 in factors and rewrite the equation,

u^2+100u-5u-500=0

u(u+100)-5(u+100)=0

(u+100)(u-5)=0

Replace the value of u with x^2,

(x^2+100)(x^2-5)=0

It is known that If any individual factor on the left side of the equation is equal to zero then the entire expression will be equal to zero. therefore we get,

x^2-5=0

further, solve it,

x^2=5

x=\sqrt{5},-\sqrt{5}

And another factor is

x^2+100=0

x^2=-100

x=10i,-10i

Hence, all the values of the <em>x </em>for the given function are \sqrt{5},-\sqrt{5},  10i , and  -10i.

Whitepunk [10]
I can't see the options, but you would need to multiply (4x - 2y = 7) by 3, and (3x - 3y = 15) by 4 so that you get 12x in both equations. Then when you subtract, you eliminate 12x. I hope this helps!

3.) mr. smith’s class sold wrapping paper for $3.50 each and mr. davis’ class sold magazines for $2.75 each. together, the class
igor_vitrenko [27]

Answer:

The number of wrapping paper sold was 32 and the number of magazines sold was 40

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

x ----> the number of wrapping paper sold

y ----> the number of magazines sold

we know that

The classes sold 72 items

so

x+y=72 ----> equation A

The classes earned $222 for their school

so

3.50x+2.75y=222 ----> equation B

Solve the system of equations by graphing

Remember that the solution of the system of equations is the intersection point both graphs

using a graphing tool

The solution is (32,40)

see the attached figure

therefore

The number of wrapping paper sold was 32 and the number of magazines sold was 40
