Answer: Cl2 is acting as an oxidizing agent.

Explanation:

Hydrogen reacts with Chlorine to produce Hydrochloric Acid.

                                H2 + Cl2 ---> 2 HCl

Oxidation Reaction: Hydrogen's oxidation state in H2 is changing from 0 in H2 to +1 in HCl per atom. That means that it has lost one electron per atom and two electrons per molecule. Therefore, hydrogen is oxidized and has acted as a reducing agent.

                                H2 ---> 2 HCl + e-

Reduction Reaction: Chlorine's oxidation state in Cl2 is changing from 0 in Cl2 to -1 in HCl per atom. This means that it loses one electron per atom and two electrons per two atoms. Therefore, Chlorine is reduced and has acted as an oxidizing agent.

Explain the process of filtration and crystallization
Akimi4 [234]

Answer:

Filtration, the process in which solid particles in a liquid or gaseous fluid are removed by the use of a filter medium that permits the fluid to pass through but retains the solid particles. Either the clarified fluid or the solid particles removed from the fluid may be the desired product.

Crystallization, or crystallisation, is the process of atoms or molecules arranging into a well-defined, rigid crystal lattice in order to minimize their energetic state. The smallest entity of crystal lattice is called a unit cell, which can accept atoms or molecules to grow a macroscopic

crystal.

Why are polymers better for mouthguards?
denpristay [2]
The mouth

Amongst the most vital areas to protect are the neck, face and mouth. Though keeping a set of tiger whites will be most people’s primary concern the gum and mouth guards of today also help reduce the risk of concussions and tongue injuries resulting from impacts to the jaw. The most common mouth guards available are “boil and bite” types. These are heated in order to be moulded around the user’s teeth and then form a more resistant solid on cooling. Their main component is poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate) or PEVA, made from the polymerisation of ethene with vinyl acetate.
