4x+12=8 that’s because you would distribute what’s outside and multiply it by what’s inside. Basically, 4 times x= 4x and 4x3=12 giving you the equation 4x+12=8 once you’ve set the equation subtract 12 from 8 because you have to do the opposite in order to cancel out 12…so then you get 4x=-4 then you divide the 4 from 4x and leave the x. This makes you divide 4 with the other -4 which is -1 bc one negative divided by a positive is a negative this why your answer is /////>>>> -1
