The kinetic energy of the diver just before he hits the ground is 6860 J.

What is kinetic energy?

Kinetic energy can be defined as the energy of a body due to its motion.

Note: Just before the diver hits the ground, the potential energy is converted into kinetic energy.

Formula:

 • P.E(Potential energy) = K.E(Kinetic energy)
 • K.E = mgh..................... Equation 1

Where:

 • m = mass of the diver
 • h = height of the board
 • g = acceleration due to gravity.

From the question,

Given:

 • m = 70 kg
 • h = 10 m
 • g = acceleration due to gravity.

Substitute these values into equation 1

 • K.E = 70×10×9.8
 • K.E = 6860 J

Hence, The kinetic energy of the diver just before he hits the ground is 6860 J.

A mailman performed 588J of work lifting a box 1.4 m. How much force did the mailman use?
lord [1]

As we know that work done due a force F is given by formula

W = F.d

here F = applied force due to which work is done

d = displacement of object

now here we will have

W = 588 J

d = 1.4 m

now we can find force by above formula

588 = F* 1.4

F =\frac{588}{1.4}

F = 420 N

So applied force by milkman is F = 420 N

If an object has a large momentum, how easy is it to stop, and why?
podryga [215]
It is dificult to stop an object with a lot of momentum becuase of inertia with means that a moving object will want to keep moving and a stationary object wil want to stay stationary and the larger the momentum of the moving object the harder it will be to stop

a rod of zinc has a mass of 5kg. in water it weighs 25 N. what is the buoyant force on it when it is submerged in water?
Alexxandr [17]

Answer:

If it has a mass of 5 kg its weight is 5 kg * 9.8 m/s^2 = 49 N

Weight in air = 49 N

Weight in water = 25 N

Buoyant force provided by water = 49 - 25 = 24 N
