Can anyone help with this question
4vir4ik [10]

Answer: A) x=6

Step-by-step explanation: my trick that i do with these questions are to just fill in the x's with the different choices that they give you.

so... first try out 6. fill in every x with a 6. so now, x isn't x anymore, it's 6.

(8-6)=2

9 times 2= 18

3 times 6= 18

this means that x would equal 6

if that first one doesn't work, try out the other ones. but this one works, so we know we have the right answer. i hope this helps with this problem, and i hope it helps with other problems like this too.

Suppose the population of IQ scores in the town or city where you live is bell-shaped, with a mean of 104 and a standard deviati
SVEN [57.7K]

Answer:

The mean of samples of 100 IQ scores taken out from this population will have a distribution with mean M=104 and standard deviation s=3.5.

Step-by-step explanation:

We know the population mean and standard deviation, that has a bell-shaped distribution:

\mu=104\\\\\sigma=35

The sampling distribution, the distribution of the mean of samples of size n out of this population, will have the same mean as the population mean.

\mu_M=\mu=104

The standard deviation will be related to the population standard deviation and the sample size as:

\sigma_M=\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{N}} =\frac{35}{\sqrt{100}}=3.5

Then, the mean of samples of 100 IQ scores taken out from this population will have a distribution with mean M=104 and standard deviation s=3.5.

Some students are working together to draw a picture of a playground.
vodomira [7]

From the information provided by the statement, you know that

*Ann draws 2/16 of the playground

*Susan draws 6/16 of the playground because she draws 3 times as much as Ann so

3\cdot\frac{2}{16}=\frac{3}{1}\cdot\frac{2}{16}=\frac{6}{16}

*Louise draws 3/16 because she draws half as much as Susan, so

\frac{1}{2}\cdot\frac{6}{16}=\frac{6}{32}=\frac{2\cdot3}{2\cdot16}=\frac{3}{16}

*Sam draws 2/16 because she draws 1 less section than Louise

\frac{3}{16}-\frac{1}{16}=\frac{2}{16}

Now, let x be the fraction of the playground that still needs to be drawn. Then, you have

\begin{gathered} \frac{2}{16}+\frac{6}{16}+\frac{3}{16}+\frac{2}{16}+x=\frac{16}{16} \\ \text{ Add similar terms} \\ \frac{13}{16}+x=\frac{16}{16} \\ \text{ Subtract }\frac{13}{16}\text{from both sides of the equation} \\ \frac{13}{16}-\frac{13}{16}+x=\frac{16}{16}-\frac{13}{16} \\ x=\frac{3}{16} \end{gathered}

Therefore, 3/16 of the playground still needs to be drawn.
