Thaddeus shakes his head as he pays $12.37 to the clerk for lunch. Complaining to a friend, Thaddeus says, “Do you realize that

is 0.2% of my monthly income?” His friend replies, “I think you made a mistake. That should be 2%. You messed up on the decimal point.” (a) Assuming Thaddeus is not wrong, what is his monthly income? (b) If Thaddeus’ friend is correct, what is Thaddeus’ monthly income?

Pretty simple question, just set up the equation.
A) say Thad is right then equation is as follows:
X * 0.002 = 12.37
Where X is monthly income.
So to solve for X just divide 12.37 by 0.002 (0.2%)
6185$ per month. Which no offense to Thad, but means he’s probably some kind of software engineer or investment banker if he’s making that much a month. (Unlikely for Thad)

B) if he’s wrong then just set up again
X * 0.02 = 12.37
Where x = monthly income
So x= $618.5
More likely given he’s complaining about a 12$ lunch when inflation has the yelp one ($) sign restaurants charging 15 or 16 just for a meal with tip and tax.
Anyways my rant aside hope this helps.

A line that includes the point (7,0) has a slope of 1. What is its equation in slope-intercept form?
LiRa [457]

Answer:

y = x-7

Step-by-step explanation:

To write the equation of the line in slope-intercept form, use the slope-intercept formula, y = mx +b. Find real values for the m and b and substitute them into the formula.

1) We know that m represents the slope, so substitute 1 in its place.  However, we still need to find b, or the y-intercept. So, along with substituting that 1 in for m, substitute the x and y values for (7,0) for the x and y in the formula as well. Then, isolate b to find its value:

y = mx + b\\0 = (1)(7)+b\\0 = 7 + b\\-7 = b

So, b = -7.

2) Now, just substitute the found values for m and b into the slope-intercept formula. Remember that the slope is m, so substitute 1 in, and b is -7, so substitute -7 in its place as well. This gives the following equation in slope-intercept form:

y = 1x -7 or y = x-7
