As Ampere suggested, a magnetic field is produced whenever an electrical charge is in motion. The spinning and orbiting of the nucleus of an atom produces a magnetic field as does electrical current flowing through a wire. The direction of the spin and orbit determine the direction of the magnetic field.

Identify which best describes the energy used to pluck guitar strings to make sound.
Novay_Z [31]
<span>The correct answer is: Mechanical Energy

Explanation:
As the guitar strings are plunked, the potential energy stored in the strings has an ability to make them vibrate. When the strings are vibrating, that potential energy is actually converted to the kinetic energy. Hence, the whole phenomena contains both the kinetic energy and the potential energy. The sum of kinetic energy and the potential energy is called Mechanical energy. Therefore, the correct answer is Mechanical Energy.</span>

An athlete can twirl a baton so that it reaches an angular velocity of 12 rad/s from rest in 0.5 s. If the length of a uniform b
NikAS [45]

Answer:

The torque needed is 46.08 Nm

Explanation:

Given;

angular velocity, ω = 12 rad/s

time of motion, t = 0.5 s

length of the baton, r = 0.8 m

mass of the baton, 0.5 kg

The torque needed to  reach the angular velocity is given by;

τ = F x r

where;

F is the centripetal force of the baton

r is the length of the baton = radius of the circular motion of the baton

F_c =ma_c= \frac{mv^2}{r} = m\omega^2 r

Torque is given by;

\tau = F_c *r\\\\\tau = m \omega^2 r *r\\\\\tau = m \omega^2 r^2 \\\\\tau = (0.5)(12)^2(0.8)^2\\\\\tau = 46.08 \ N m

Therefore, the torque needed is 46.08 Nm

The potential energy for a mass on a spring is proportional to the square of which of these quantities? A. mass B. frequency C.
frutty [35]
<h2>Answer:Displacement</h2>

Explanation:

Potential energy is present in a spring because the spring is elongated and some work is done it to elongate it.

The elastic potential energy present in a spring is given by kx^{2}

where k is the spring constant.It may vary from spring to spring and x is the displacement of the spring from its equalibrium position.

It is evident from the equation that potential energy in the spring increases as x^{2} increases.
