Based in the equation of the reaction, oxygen gas, O2 is the limiting reactant and 2 moles of CO remain unreacted

What is the equation of reaction between CO and O2?

The reaction of carbon(ii) oxide, CO and oxygen, O2 is a redox reaction which produces carbon (iv) oxide, CO2.

The equation of the reaction. is given below:

 • 2 CO + O2 ----> 2 CO2

From the equation of the reaction, 2 moles of CO are required to react with 1 mole of O2 to produce 2 moles of CO2

The moles of the reacting substances is calculated using the formula:

 • moles = mass/molar mass

Molar mass of CO = 28 g

Moles of CO = 112/28 = 4 moles

Molar mass of 02 = 32 g

Moles of O2 = 32/32 = 1 mole

Therefore, oxygen gas, O2 is the limiting reactant and 2 moles of CO remain unreacted.

Looking at the above diagram, which side would be considered an acid AND explain how do you know this?
zvonat [6]

Answer:

The side with lots of H+ and low pH

Explanation:

Because one of the feature of an acid is the ability to dissociate to H+.

And it has lower pH because the concentration of H+ is more than OH-

How many grams of acetylene react if 1.10 mil of CO2 are produced
Tems11 [23]
The combustion reaction of acetylene has a balanced equation
C2H2+3O2--->2H2O+2CO2
Using the ratio 1:3:2:2, if 1.10 mols of CO2 are produced, assuming complete combustion, than that means that 0.55 mols of acetylene (C2H2) must have been combusted. The molar mass of acetylene is 26, so the answer is 26*0.55 = 14.3 grams

What would be the most likely charge of an ion formed from an atom with the electron configuration:
umka2103 [35]

Answer;

+2

Explanation;

 • The electron configuration ofthe atom is 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2. Upon forming an ion, its new configuration is 1s2 2s2 2p6.
 • The atom has lost two electrons to form an ion which is positively charged with a charge of +2.
 • In the given electronic configuration of an atom, '3s' shell is the outermost shell in which two electrons are present. For the stable configuration, these two electrons will be lost easily from the outer shell and atom will carry (+2).
 • The atom has 12 electrons, and looses 2 electrons to attain stable configuration forming a positively charged ion with 10 electrons.

Which of the following is NOT a part of Dalton's atomic theory?
MAVERICK [17]

Answer:

option a = Atoms are always in motion.

Explanation:

John Dalton gives atomic theory in 1808. The main postulates are following,

1 = All mater is composed of indivisible particle called atom.

2 =The atoms of same element are identical, but differ from another element.

3 = The atoms of different elements are combine in fixed proportion and form compound.

4 = Atom can not be created nor destroyed.

5 = Atom is smallest part of an element that take part in chemical reaction.

From above Dalton theory postulates it can be seen that all options are correct except option A.
