The required formula of hydrate is MgSO₃.6H₂O.

How do we calculate the formula of hydrate?

The number of moles of water per mole of anhydrous solid (x) will be computed by dividing the number of moles of water by the number of moles of anhydrous solid (x) to find the hydrate's formula.

Moles will be calculated as:
n = W/M, where

 • W = given mass
 • M = molar mass

Moles of MgSO₃ = 0.737g / 104.3g/mol = 0.007mol

Moles of H₂O = 0.763g / 18g/mol = 0.04 mol

Number of H₂O molecule = 0.04/0.007 = 5.7 = 6

So formula of hydrate is MgSO₃.6H₂O.

Hence required formula of hydrate compound is MgSO₃.6H₂O.

13. What is the atomic mass of an atom if its mass is approximately equal to the following? 1 a. that of carbon-12 b. 4.5 times
12345 [234]

The atomic mass of an atom if its mass is approximately equal to carbon-12 will be 12 and in case of 4.5 times carbon-12 will be 54

Atomic mass of an element is the average mass of the atoms of an element which are measured in atomic mass unit. Or we can also say that the atomic mass is actually the weighted mass is a weighted average of all of the isotopes of elements, in which the mass of each element is multiplied by the abundance of that particular isotope.

So the atomic mass of an atom if the mass is approximately equal to carbon-12 then the mass of the element will be equal to 12 as the atomic mass of carbon-12 is 12.

where as the atomic mass of an atom if its mass is approximately equal to 4.5 times as much as carbon-12 will be ⇒ 4.5×12= 54

In a car engine gasoline is burning to create mechanical energy which of the following statements is true? A. Some energy is los
Anvisha [2.4K]

Answer:

Some energy is lost as heat

Explanation:

It is correct to say that as the gasoline is converted to mechanical energy in the automobile engine, some of the energy is lost as heat.

Heat energy is on of the ways energy is lost in any system. The movement of mechanical parts and even the combustion of the gasoline produces heat energy.

These energy are usually lost to the environment.

For the balanced equation shown below, how many moles of o2 will react with 0.3020 moles of co2? 2c2h5oh + 6o2 → 4co2 + 6h2o que
MariettaO [177]
The balanced reaction for combustion is as follows ;
2C₂H₅OH + 6O₂ ---> 4CO₂ + 6H₂O
the stoichiometry of C₂H₅OH to O₂ is 2:6
that means 2 mol of C₂H₅OH reacts with 6 mol of O₂.
when 1 mol of C₂H₅OH reacts with 6/2 mol of O₂,
then 0.3020 mol of C₂H₅OH reacts with - 6/2 x 0.3020
therefore number of O₂ moles reacted = 0.91 mol

Which aqueous solution has the highest boiling point at standard pressure?(1) 1.0 M KC1(aq) (3) 2.0 M KCl(aq)(2) 1.0 M CaC12(aq)
miss Akunina [59]

Answer:

(4) 2.0 M CaCl₂(aq).

Explanation:

 • Adding solute to water elevates the boiling point.
 • The elevation in boiling point (ΔTb) can be calculated using the relation:

ΔTb = i.Kb.m,

where, ΔTb is the elevation in boiling point.

i is the van 't Hoff factor.

 • van 't Hoff factor is the ratio between the actual concentration of particles produced when the substance is dissolved and the concentration of a substance as calculated from its mass. For most non-electrolytes dissolved in water, the van 't Hoff factor is essentially 1.

Kb is the molal elevation constant of water.

m is the molality of the solution.

(1) 1.0 M KCl(aq):

i for KCl = no. of particles produced when the substance is dissolved/no. of original particle = 2/1 = 2.

suppose molarity = molality, m = 1.0 m,

∴ ΔTb for (1.0 M KCl) = i.Kb.m = (2)(Kb)(1.0 m) = 2(Kb).

(2) 2.0 M KCl(aq):

i for KCl = no. of particles produced when the substance is dissolved/no. of original particle = 2/1 = 2.

suppose molarity = molality, m = 2.0 m,

∴ ΔTb for (1.0 M KCl) = i.Kb.m = (2)(Kb)(2.0 m) = 4(Kb).

(3) 1.0 M CaCl₂(aq):

i for CaCl₂ = no. of particles produced when the substance is dissolved/no. of original particle = 3/1 = 3.

suppose molarity = molality, m = 1.0 m,

∴ ΔTb for (1.0 M KCl) = i.Kb.m = (3)(Kb)(1.0 m) = 3(Kb).

(4) 2.0 M CaCl₂(aq):

i for CaCl₂ = no. of particles produced when the substance is dissolved/no. of original particle = 3/1 = 3.

suppose molarity = molality, m = 2.0 m,

∴ ΔTb for (1.0 M KCl) = i.Kb.m = (3)(Kb)(2.0 m) = 6(Kb).

 • So, the aqueous solution has the highest boiling point at standard pressure is: (4) 2.0 M CaCl₂(aq).
