The coefficients in front of H⁺ and Fe³⁺ in the balanced reaction is 8 and 5.

What is a redox reaction ?

An oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction is a type of chemical reaction that involves a transfer of electrons between two species.

An oxidation-reduction reaction is any chemical reaction in which the oxidation number of a molecule, atom, or ion changes by gaining or losing an electron.

Redox reactions are common and vital to some of the basic functions of life, including photosynthesis, respiration, combustion, and corrosion or rusting.

Fe²⁺ +MnO₄⁻    ⇄       Fe³⁺ + Mn²⁺

Assigning Oxidation numbers

Fe²⁺    : +2

+Mn   :   + 7     O₄⁻  : -2

Fe³⁺  :    +3

Mn²⁺  :  +2

Oxidation half reaction Fe²⁺   ----->   Fe³⁺ +e-

Reduction half reaction   MnO₄⁻ + 5 e⁻  ----> Mn²⁺

After balancing the charge & oxygen atoms

5Fe²⁺  ----->   5Fe³⁺ +5e-

MnO₄⁻ + 5 e⁻ +8H⁺ ----> Mn²⁺ +4H₂O

After adding half reaction

5Fe +MnO₄⁻+8H⁺ ⇄5Fe³⁺ +Mn²⁺ +4H₂O

This is the final balanced reaction.

The coefficients in front of H⁺ and Fe³⁺ in the balanced reaction is 8 and 5.

Why does granite have larger crystals than obsidian?
Arlecino [84]

Answer:Granite forms as magma cools far under the earth's surface. Because it hardens deep underground it cools very slowly. This allows crystals of the four minerals to grow large enough to be easily seen by the naked eye. Look at the photo of granite above, notice the different crystals in the rock

What controls flowering in many
plants?
katrin2010 [14]

Answer:

All flowering is regulated by the integration of environmental cues into an internal sequence of processes. These processes regulate the ability of plant organs to produce and respond to an array of signals. The numerous regulatory switches permit precise control over the time of flowering.

PLEASE HELP I NEED IT!!!!!
galina1969 [7]
Answer:
Molarity = 2.3 M

Explanation:
Molarity can be calculated using the following rule:
Molarity = number of moles of solute / volume of solution

1- getting the number of moles:
We are given that:
mass of solute = 105.96 grams
From the periodic table:
atomic mass of carbon = 12 grams
atomic mass of hydrogen = 1 gram
atomic mass of oxygen = 16 grams
Therefore:
molar mass of C2H6O = 2(12) + 6(1) + 16 = 46 grams
Now, we can get the number of moles as follows:
number of moles = mass / molar mass = 105.96 / 46 = 2.3 moles

2- The volume of solution is given = 1 liter

3- getting the molarity:
molarity = number of moles of solute / volume of solution
molarity = 2.3 / 1
molarity = 2.3 M

Hope this helps :)

G. Amount of charge required to reduce
Nady [450]

Answer:

\boxed{\text{c) 4 F}}

Explanation:

1. Write the skeleton equation for the half-reaction

NO₃⁻ ⟶ N₂O

2. Balance all atoms other than H and O

2NO₃⁻ ⟶ N₂O

3. Balance O by adding H₂O molecules to the deficient side.

2NO₃⁻ ⟶ N₂O + 5H₂O

4. Balance H by adding H⁺ ions to the deficient side.

2NO₃⁻ + 10H⁺ ⟶ N₂O + 5H₂O

5. Balance charge by adding electrons to the deficient side.

2NO₃⁻ + 10H⁺ + 8e⁻ ⟶ N₂O + 5H₂O

The amount of charge required to reduce 2 mol of NO₃⁻ is 8 F

\text{The amount of charge required to reduce 1 mol of NO$_{3}^{-}$ is \boxed{\textbf{4 F}}}
