Answer: 4, 1

Step-by-Step Explanation:

Let the First Number be ‘x’
Let the Second Number be ‘y’

Framing 2 Equations :-

=> 3x + 2y = 14 (Eq. 1)
=> 2x - y = 7 (Eq. 2)

Multiplying Eq. 2 by 2 :-

=> 4x - 2y = 14 (Eq. 3)

Adding Eq. 1 and Eq. 3 we get :-

7x = 14 + 14
7x = 28
x = 28/7
=> x = 4

Therefore, x = 4

Substitute value of ‘x’ in Eq. 1 :-

3x + 2y = 14
3(4) + 2y = 14
12 + 2y = 14
2y = 14 - 12
2y = 2
y = 2/2
=> y = 1

Therefore, y = 1

Hence,
First Number = 4
Second Number = 1

Beginning drivers soon learn that bringing an automobile to a stop requires greater distances for higher speeds. A formula that
BaLLatris [955]

The formula for the stopping distance in feet is

d=1.1v+0.055v^2

where v = Speed of the car in miles per hour.

The stopping distance for the car traveling at 15 mph is

d=1.1\times 15+0.055\times 15^2\\\Rightarrow d=28.875\approx 29\ \text{feet}

The stopping distance for the auto traveling at 15 mph is 29\ \text{feet}.

The stopping distance for the car traveling at 30 mph is

d=1.1\times 30+0.055\times 30^2\\\Rightarrow d=82.5\approx 83\ \text{feet}

The stopping distance for the auto traveling at 30 mph is 83\ \text{feet}.

Here is a tunnel for a toy train.
jonny [76]

The <em>total</em> area of all six faces of the tunnel is 614.197\pi square centimeters.

<h2>Procedure - Surface area of a tunnel for a toy train</h2>

The surface area of the solid (A) used to represent the tunnel for a toy train is the sum of its six faces (two <em>semicircular</em> sections, inner <em>semicircular</em> arc section, outer <em>semicircular</em> arc section, two rectangles).

<h3>Determination of the surface area of the tunnel based on information of the diagram</h3>

We calculate the surface area as following:

A = 2\cdot \frac{\pi}{2} \cdot [(10\,cm)^{2}-(8\,cm)^{2}] + \pi\cdot (8\,cm)\cdot (30\,cm) + \pi\cdot (10\,cm)\cdot (30\,cm) + 2\cdot (2\,cm)\cdot (30\,cm)

A = 614.197\pi\,cm^{2}

The <em>total</em> area of all six faces of the tunnel is 614.197\pi square centimeters. \blacksquare

Nina [5.8K]

First, let's see what the answer is when we follow this equation using PEMDAS.

5 + 4 x 2 + 6 - 2 x 2 - 1

5 + 8 + 6 - 4 - 1

14

Now, let's trying grouping 5 + 4 together, and solving it again.

(5 + 4) x 2 + 6 - 2 x 2 - 1

9 x 2 + 6 - 2 x 2 - 1

18 + 6 - 4 - 1

24 - 5

19

So, the parentheses go around 5 + 4 to get your answer!
