This is an example of The Distributive Property.
We can tell this because the number on the outside of the parenthesis on the left side has been distributed to each number inside on the right. You do this by multiplying each number by the number on the outside.
The radius would be 6. the diameter is the full length from one side of the circle to the other and the radius is just half. divide 12 by 2 and you get 6 :)
The answer is that because I just did that in class.
6/7 in decimal form is about 0.857
1/2 in decimal form is 0.5
1 is, of course, 1
0.857 (6/7) is closer to 1 than it is closer to 0.5 (1/2)—simply subtract to see.

You are allowed to move the decimal points before dividing with decimals because then, you will be able to divide by a whole number outside the dividend. Move the decimal point so that you are dividing by a whole number.
