I need the steps to this, please. It says solve for x. Each figure is a parallelogram. Show your work.
Trava [24]
With any parallelogram, the diagonals bisect each other. This is another way of saying that they cut each other in half.

FH is one diagonal that is split into two equal pieces by the other diagonal EG.

The two parts of FH (KH and KF) are congruent to each other, so KH = KF. They combine back to FH

By the segment addition postulate
KH + KF = FH
KH + KH = FH .... KF has been replaced with KH (works because KF = KH)
2*KH = FH

Now use substitution
2*KH = FH
2*15 = FH .... replace KH with 15 (since KH = 15)
2*15 = 4x-2 ... replace FH with 4x-2 (since FH = 4x-2)

and solve for x
2*15 = 4x-2
30 = 4x-2
30+2 = 4x-2+2 ... add 2 to both sides
32 = 4x
4x = 32
4x/4 = 32/4 ... divide both sides by 4
x = 8

Find the equation of a line that is perpendicular to line g that contains (P, Q).
Nat2105 [25]

We want to find the equation of a line that is perpendicular to G and pass through point (P, Q)

The coordinate of G is

(-2,6) and (-3,2)

Point 1 = (x1,y1) = (-2,6)

Point 2 = (x2,y2) = (-3,2)

So, let find the slope of this line G.

Slope can be calculated using

m = ∆y/∆x

m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)

m = (2-6) / (-3--2), -×- = +

m = -4 / (-3 + 2)

m = -4 / -1

m = 4

So, the gradient or slope of line G is 4

From geometry, since the equation of the line we want to find is perpendicular to the G,

Then, the slope of the line is

m2 = -1 / m1

m2 = - 1 / 4

m2 = -¼.

Then, also we can write equation of a line given the slope and a point using

m = (y - y1) / (x - x1)

Where m = -¼

And the point (x1,y1) = (P, Q)

Then, we have

-¼ = (y - Q) / (x - P)

Cross multiply

-(x - P) = 4(y - Q)

-x + P = 4y - 4Q

Rearrange

-x - 4y = - 4Q - P

Divide through by -1

x + 4y = 4Q + P

Then, the last option is correct

Ming drew the model below to represent the equation 24+12=_x(8+4) What is the missing value in Ming's equation?
SashulF [63]

Given:

The equation is:

24+12=\_\_\times (8+4)

To find:

The missing value.

Solution:

We have,

24+12=\_\_\times (8+4)           ...(i)

Taking left hand side, we get

24+12=3\times 8+3\times 4

Taking 3 common, we get

24+12=3\times (8+4)             ...(ii)

On comparing (i) and (ii), we get

Missing value = 3

Therefore, the missing value in the given equation is 3.

64 is what percent of 40?
ohaa [14]
Think of 40 as 100% (even though it is not)

X will be the value we are looking for

If 40 is 100%, so we can write it down as 40=100%.

We know, that x is 64% of the output value, so we can write it down as x=64%

-----------------------------------------------

1) 40=100%
2) x=64%
----------------------------------------------

40/x=100%/64%

40/x=100/64
(40/x)*x=(100/64)*x
40=1.5625*x -divide both sides of the equation by (1.5625) to get x-
40/1.5625=x
25.6=x
x=25.6

So we get;
64% of 40=25.6
