Answer: Choice C (x+2)(x+5)

Step-by-step explanation:

Choice A: 5x-2x = 3x, not right.

Choice B: 10x+7x = 17x, not right.

Choice C: 5x+2x = 7x, right.

So the answer is choice C, the clever wouldn't waste time on calculation when you know the right answer.

But if you want to know...

Choice A: Fortunately, the coefficient for x^2 is 1 which is easy to factor

Now we see -2 and 5, you don't need to calculate, just calculate -2+5 = 3 or if you want.

[5(x)]+[-2(x)] = 5x-2x = 3x

For +10, just multiply 5 and -2 then you get -10

Choice B: Same with choice one, you can find the middle expression by,

7x+10x = 17x or in advanced way

10(x)+7(x) = 10x+7x = 17x

For the last expression, jut multiply 10 and 7, you get 70 which is not even right.

Choice C is right because 5x+2x = 7x (From 5(x)+2(x)=5x+2x=7x)

Then multiply 2 and 5 to get last expression aka 10 as you get 10

The diagram shows a circular pond, of radius r metres, surrounded by a circular path.The circular path has a constant width of 1
Alenkasestr [34]

The formula for calculating the area of a circle is expressed as;

A = πr²

 • Area of the pond = πr²
 • Area of the path = Area of the path + pond - area of pond
 • Area of path = π(r+1.5)² - πr²

Since the area of the path is equal to the area of the pond, hence;

π(r+1.5)² - πr² = πr²

Add πr² to both sides

π(r+1.5)² - πr² + πr² = πr² + πr²

π(r+1.5)² = 2πr²

(r+1.5)² = 2r²

Expand the parenthesis

r²+3r + 2.25 = 2r²

r²+3r + 2.25 - 2r² = 0

-r² + 3r + 2.25 = 0

r² - 3r - 2.25 = 0

Multiply through by 2

2r² - 6.0r - 4.5 = 0

This proves the required equation

A hat is marked down 45% and its new price is $69. What was the original price rounded to the nearest cent?
Alex Ar [27]

Answer:

$106.95

Step-by-step explanation:

45% = 0.45

1.00 - 0.45 = 0.55

$69 x 0.55 = 37.95

$69 + 37.95 = $106.95

Use the factorization to find the values of x for which p(x) = 0. (x – 1)(x 1)(x 5) = 0 x – 1 = 0, so x = x 1 = 0, so x = x 5 =
Sladkaya [172]

Answer: (x – 1)(x + 1)(x + 5) = 0

x – 1 = 0, so x = 1

x + 1 = 0, so x = -1

x + 5 = 0, so x = -5

Gemma recently rode her bicycle to visit her friend who lives 6 miles away. On her way there, her average speed was 16 miles per
DochEvi [55]

first speed --- x mph

return speed -- x+16 mph

6/x + 6/(x+16) = 1

times each term by x(x+16)

6(x+16) + 6x = x(x+16)

x^2 + 4x - 96 = 0

(x-8)(x+12) = 0

x = 8 or x is a negative

her first speed was 8 mph

her return speed was 24 mph

check:

6/8 + 6/24 = 1 , that's good!
