From the equation, the mole ratio of Mg to HCl is 1:1.

Mole of 4.00 g mg = 4/24.3 = 0.1646 moles

Mole of 3.2 g HCl = 3.2/36.458 = 0.0878 moles

Thus, Mg is in excess while HCl is limiting in availability.
