Essay writing is given to students in order to test their writing, reading skills, and knowledge of a topic.

<h3>How to illustrate the essay?</h3>

It should be noted that the Secret Garden by Francisc Hodgson took place in England during the Victorian era.

The protagonist is Mary Lennox who is a spoilt and selfish young girl. The tone is melodramatic and is told in the third person omniscient.

In the story, Mary didn't care for anything. She was spoilt and no one meant anything to her. When a cholera epidemic killed her parents, she is orphaned and had to live with her widowed uncle.

The main theme in the story is healing. Mary who was once friendless and selfish transformed into a happier and healthier child.

dmitriy555 [2]

Answer:

“ I would have picked up the pear now and eaten it before all the world“

What does the word lurid say about the newspaper headlines?
Lina20 [59]

Answer:

C

Explanation:

It is not a terrific definition, but lurid actually means horrible ugly details that paint a very black picture.

From the choices you have, I suppose it is C, but given how subtle the choices, be prepared to learn that C is not the answer. It is just the best of a bad number of choices.

ololo11 [35]

Answer:

Herbivores eat only plants. Similarly, carnivores eat only meat.

The lion grew so hungry that it began looking food food.

A gazelle is not as fast as a cheetah, but it can run longer periods of time.

Explanation:

<u>"Similarly" serves to compare. It commonly appears at the beginning of a sentence in which the information presents similarities with an idea or fact that has already been pre</u>sented. An example with "similarly" is:

- Cats are scared of dogs. Similarly, dogs are not very fond of cats.

<u>"So... that" is used with an adjective. The purpose is to amplify that adjective to imply that the characteristic or feeling it describes led to a certain result or consequence.</u> An example with "so... that" is:

- I was so disappointed that I left the room immediately.

<u>"As.. as" is also used with an adjective, and it also indicates a comparison. It shows - unless the sentence is negative, of course - that two people or things are at the same level when it comes to a certain attribute.</u> Example:

- Josh is as talkative as his brother Leon.
