A 2.49 g sample of aniline (C6H5NH2, molar mass = 93.13 g/mol) was combusted in a bomb calorimeter with a heat capacity of 4.25

kJ/°C. If the temperature rose from 29.5°C to 69.8°C, determine the value of ΔH°comb for aniline.

The value of delta H° for aniline = 6415 Kj/mol

calculation

Step 1: find heat

Q (heat) = C (specific heat capacity) x ΔT (change in temperature)

C= 4.25 kj/c°

ΔT = 69.8-29.5  = 40.3 c°

Q= 4.25 kj/c  x  40.3 c = 171.28 kj

Step 2: find the moles of aniline

moles  = mass/molar  mass

= 2.49 g/ 93.13 g/mol =0.0267 moles

Step 3:  find delta H

171.28 kj/0.0267 mol = 6415 kj/mol

since the reaction is exothermic delta H = 6415 Kj/mol

A solution of a base differs from a solution of an acid in that the solution of a base?A. is able to conduct electricity B. is a
Anon25 [30]

Answer:

  • Option D. has a great [OH⁻]

Explanation:

1) Both acids and bases ionize in aqueous solutions so they are able to conduct electricity.

The ions, being charged particles, when flow through the solution are charge carriers, then they conduct electricity.

So, the option A does not state a difference between a solution of a base and a solution of an acid.

2) Both acids and bases are able to cause an indicator color change.

The usufulness of the indicators is that they are able to change of color when the pH changes either from acid to basic or from basic to acid. There are different indicators because none is suitable for the whole range of pH, but the statement B is not how solutions of base and acids differ.

3) The model of Arrhenius for acids and bases states that an acid is a substance that ionizes in water releasing H⁺ ions (this is equivalent to H₃O⁺) and a base is a substance that releases OH⁻ ions in water. Then, acids have a greater concentration of H₃O⁺ (so option C is not true for a solution of a base) and bases have a greater concentraion of OH⁻, making the option D. true.

A cylinder contains nitrogen and oxygen under 4.015 atm pressure. The partial pressure of N2 is 2.907 atm. What is the partial p
Aleksandr-060686 [28]

Answer: The partial pressure of the water vapor is 1.108 atm

Explanation:

According to Dalton's law, the total pressure of a mixture of gases is the sum of individual pressures exerted by the constituent gases.

p_{total}=p_A+p_B

Thus p_{total}=p_{N_2}+p_{H_2O}

Given: p_{total} =4.015 atm

p_{N_2}= 2.907 atm

p_{H_2O} = ?

Thus 4.015=2.907+p_{H_2O}

p_{H_2O}=1.108atm

Thus the partial pressure of the water vapor is 1.108 atm

Each joule is one ____. newton of energy gram of energy meter of energy newton·meter of energy
bezimeni [28]
Joule is a unit of work or energy. Work is calculated by multiplying the amount of force exerted with the displacement of the object. The equation would then be,
                               W = F x d
If we are to write the units of measurement for the given parameters, that would be
                       Joules = Newton x meter
Thus, the answer is newton.meter of energy. The answer is the last choice.

Iii. When the boat is fully loaded, it floats lower in the water than when it is empty. Explain
denis23 [38]

Answer:

The loaded ship will weigh more. Thus it will sink down farther in the water in order to displace that much more water so that it continues to float.
