Given that the initial rate constant is 0.0110s−1 at an initial temperature of 21 ∘C , what would the rate constant be at a temp

erature of 150. ∘C for the same reaction described in Part A?
Part A said: The activation energy of a certain reaction is 45.5 kJ/mol . At 21 ∘C , the rate constant is 0.0110s−1 . At what temperature in degrees Celsius would this reaction go twice as fast?

The rate of reaction at 150 degrees is 1.878.

What is the activation energy?

We have the formula as;

ln(k2/k1) = Ea/R (1/T1 - 1/T2)

ln(2( 0.0110)/0.0110) = 45.5 * 10^3/8.314(1/294 - 1/T2)

0.693 = 5473(1/294 - 1/T2)

0.693/ 5473 = (1/294 - 1/T2)

1.27 * 10^-4 = 1/294

1/T2 = 1/294 - 1.27 * 10^-4

1/T2 = 340 * 10^-4 - 1.27 * 10^-4

T2 = 30 degrees

Again;

ln(k2/0.0110) = 45.5 * 10^3/8.314(1/303 - 1/423)

ln(k2/0.0110) = 5473(3.3 * 10^3 - 2.36 * 10^3)

ln(k2/0.0110) = 5.14

k2/0.0110 = e^5.14

k2 = 0.0110 * e^5.14

k2 = 1.878

Elements donate 2 electron to produce a cation with a 2+ charge
hammer [34]

Answer: alkaline earth metals (group-IIA)

Explanation:

The element which donates the electron is known as electropositive element and forms a positively charged ion called as cation. The element which accepts the electrons is known as electronegative element and forms a negatively charged ion called as anion.

Alkaline earth metals donate 2 valence electrons to acquire noble gas configuration.

For example: Berrylium is the first alkaline earth metal with atomic number of 4 and thus has 4 electrons

Electronic configuration of berrylium:

[Be]:4:1s^22s^2

Berrylium atom will loose two electrons to gain noble gas configuration and form berrylium cation with +2 charge.

[Be^{2+}]:2:1s^2

Thus Elements donate 2 electron to produce a cation with a 2+ charge are alkaline earth metals.

I will give 20 points for correct answer. No links!
NikAS [45]
Answer: C) Heat

What I know so far is that heat makes it harder for the electrons to reach the source, thus making it hard to collide with the nucleus, but I’m not sure so you can see if it’s correct.
